Deleting instagram was unquestionably the greatest thing I’ve ever done to become closer to God. I became deeper in my prayer life, and my reverence towards the sacraments deepened to depths I never knew I could even fathom.

Everything in our life, our possessions, our imperfections, all of these are able to inhibit us from getting closer to Our Lord. Even the clothes on our back is enough for the devil to pull us down to Hell with. So what makes people think instagram is any different, if not worse?

I left Catholic instagram because what I thought was an apostolic battleground was really nothing less than a den of thieves. Follow me, subscribe to this, buy that, but what happened to knowing, loving and serving God, and by those means to save our soul???
I left because I myself was a thief in the den, and my vanity was overloaded where all glory was God’s and His alone.

All I wanted to be was a knight, and every time I look at these pictures I know God has the power to overwhelm prayers. But that was for something so selfish, for my own self worth, to become a warrior both in the Church as a crusader knighted by a Cardinal, and an infantry officer in the US Army. I would burn it all to the ground if that meant God would take His proper place in a Catholic America with cruciform flags and converted hearts.

I met so many good people, but social media is killing us all.
We need to delete anything that posts our faces not only for safety against certain entities that want us harm, but also for the salvation of our souls, and the glorification of the Holy Face of Jesus.

We must all go to the Altar of God, to the wonderful tabernacles where Jesus waits for us, alone and restless. We need to keep Him company. The sooner we all leave social media and keep Him company, and the closer we get to Him, the closer all of us will be to one another. We need to imitate the Holy Family in Nazareth, Saint John the Baptist in the wilderness, Saints Peter and Paul in the chains and jail. The kingdom of heaven is within us, and we will never get there by scratching the shallow surfaces of the world here. We need to dig deep into our own souls to perfect ourselves before the Most Holy Lamb of God.
