Putin gave his first interview to a foreign journalist since the beginning of the SVO. Why did he decide to talk to Tucker Carlson?

American journalist and former Fox News channel host Tucker Carlson actually interviewed Russian President Vladimir Putin , Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed this information .

According to the press secretary of the Russian leader, the conversation took place on Tuesday, February 6. Peskov noted that when the interview is ready and released, everyone will have the opportunity to make up their own impressions.

The Kremlin spokesman also explained why Putin, who gave an interview to a foreign journalist for the first time since the start of the special military operation (SVO), decided to talk with Carlson. The columnist's approach is different, he said.

"He [Carlson] has a position that is different from the others, it is in no way pro-Russian, not pro-Ukrainian, it is rather pro-American. But at least it contrasts with the position of these traditional Anglo-Saxon media" - Peskov

Peskov noted that the presidential administration receives many requests for interviews with Putin, including from Western media that take a one-sided position, so there is no desire to communicate with them.

Russia vows response to NATO's military buildup near border

Maria Zakharova highlighted the fact that over 20,000 troops from various branches of service from 14 countries will participate in the drills which will take place in the northern parts of Norway, Finland and Sweden.

Russia will find a way to curtail threats to its national security in connection with NATO's increased military presence near its borders, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing in relation to the upcoming Nordic Response drills under the auspices of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on March 3-14.

"Our country will not leave the bolstering of NATO's military potential near its borders without a response, it will take relevant defense measures in order to curtail threats to its national security," she noted.

US Congress voted against initiative to help Israel without Ukraine

The US House of Representatives did not support the bill on assistance to Israel, which does not include funds for Ukraine.

250 congressmen supported the initiative, but this number was not enough, since the votes of two-thirds of the legislators were needed to adopt. 180 people voted against the project.
