[The Danger of Ishq (Obsessive, Intense Love) on a Person's Religion and Mind]

Shaykh al-Islam, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
"Obsessive love for someone who is impermissible (a non-mahram) contains corruption that only the Lord of the servants fully knows and enumerates and it is one of the diseases that corrupts a person's religion, and then it may corrupt their mind and eventually their body."
(Majmoo' al-Fataawa, 10/132)

I say: This is why it is mentioned in the hadith:
"We have not seen anything like marriage for two who love one another."

قال شيخ الإسلام رحمه الله: "عشق الأجنبية فيه من الفساد ما لا يحصيه إلا رب العباد ، وهو من الأمراض التي تفسد دين صاحبها ، ثم قد تفسد عقله ثم جسمه "

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ said,
"When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the Masjid and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the Masjid in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the Masjid in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumuah prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutbah (Sermon)."
