Over the years , a tendency to have a university degree abroad has become commonplace among most students . Despite some negatives coming along with this trend , I think its positives seem to be more significant .

On the one hand , studying overseas can be disadvantageous in two main areas . Once they have settled into a new country , they are confronted with the problem of cultural shock ; Disparities between their belonged culture and a completely new one which causes students to feel isolated in a foreign country , eventually facing homesickness. More than that , financial constraints can be another area of concern for foreign students . To cover all study expenses , students in many universities have to work part-time rather than focusing on their studies ; The case sounds even worse for those pursuing a degree in prestigious universities such as Cambridge and Harward where tuition fees tend to be higher than normal , leaving students no choice but to work for not being withdrew.

I , on the other hand , think this shift in education preferences is favourable in more ways than we expected. First of all , students can be shaped as a well-rounded person through studying in a foreign university . As obvious most American and European countries not only ensure high-quality education but also a wide range of opportunities to improve students personally through offering extracurricular activities . Having spent quality time with fellow mates from different cultural backgrounds , students can get to know perspectives , cultural and lifestyles of foreign people , making them to know a lot about the world . The most important upside is , however , linked to their academic excellence . As stated above , strict regulations set in quality of education put lots of burden on students` shoulders . So they have to study hard to in order not to fail their exams , ultimately becoming an experienced specialist in a particular field .

To conclude , even though downsides like financial difficulties and cultural shock might make studying abroad less favourable , in my view students can improve both personally and professionally with the help of overseas education which is more than enough to say benefits outweigh its drawbacks .
