SUMMER SCHOOL - AGRI DEVELOPMENT CENTRAL ASIA

Summer School on “Quantitative analysis of agricultural development in Central Asia”
🗓30 September to 4 October 2024
📍Center for Agricultural Reform and Innovation Studies (CARIS) at Samarkand Agroinnovations and Research University, Uzbekistan.

🧠The Summer School will combine theoretical lectures and practical exercises with discussion sessions on current issues of agricultural development in Central Asia. The participants will gain competency in using statistical software for analysing agricultural survey data. They are expected to prepare and present a research project on a pertinent livestock development topic based on exemplary micro-data made available by the instructors. For the practical exercises in data analysis, the participants will be introduced to methods in R/RStudio. Sessions will include lectures, discussions, group work, case study exercises and statistical analysis.

👩‍🎓The summer school is open to consider any MSc or PhD student interested in agricultural development of Central Asia. Participants currently residing in the five post-Soviet Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will be given preference.

🇬🇧The knowledge of English language is a prerequisite to participation since the seminar will be held in English throughout.

💸There are no fees for attending the summer school. The costs of accepted participants will be covered by the TRANS-LIVESTOCK project and include visa fees, travel costs, accommodation and food (including meals and coffee breaks) at the venue. The summer school is financially supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

⏰The application deadline is 15 June 2024. Applicants are requested to submit a personal motivation statement and a CV.
