In addition, Alex Perez further corroborates rumors about the Horde, an Iron Fist, and some Greek Gods being introduced in the animated series.

Sources say former director Yann Demange parted ways with Marvel Studios because both sides grew frustrated by the film's prolonged development process.

Mahershala Ali is also said to be increasingly frustrated.

After the project lost the first attached director Bassam Tariq in September 2022, Marvel presented Ali with a list of directors for consideration, but he conducted his own search after having concerns that the list largely featured filmmakers who were untested at the big studio level.

Ali has exercised an inordinate amount of influence over the project, which begun when he called the studio after winning the Oscar for his work on 'Green Book' and said he wanted to do Blade. According to sources, he envisioned the movie as his 'Black Panther.'

The version that was aiming to shoot last year was set in the 1920s, and featured Mia Goth as a vampire villain named Lilith who wanted the blood of Blade’s daughter. For another iteration, under Tariq, Marvel built a massive train set, but it was never used. The new take on the story is said to be present day.

Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre are no longer part of the cast. Mia Goth is still attached to the project.

The new plan calls for the script to be written over the summer and then go out to directors.

Charlie Cox** says he recorded his lines back in 2021:

"I went into the studio and did some voiceover for that a long time ago. Years ago, during when I was shooting She-Hulk, so I think that was 2021. I've just seen a couple of scenes that I've voiced. And I haven't even seen the scenes, I just saw the early drawings of it. That's all I know. I haven't seen any of it, I have no idea what the story is, but it's cool. It's cool that [Daredevil's] in it. I'm excited about it."
