Today let's talk about what contrast is and how it helps you create unique and expressive photos.

Contrast is the difference between light and dark areas in a photo. The greater the difference, the higher the contrast, and the more “harsh” the image appears. Contrast can make a shot dramatic, dynamic or, on the contrary, soft and gentle if used correctly. 

Here are some tips on how to work with contrast:

? Light and shadow. Use natural light sources - the sun, windows or even streetlights - to create a strong contrast between lighted and shadowed areas. This approach will make the shots deeper and more emotional.

? Color contrast. Opposite colors (such as blue and orange) will add energy and expression to your shots. Try to find scenes where colors create visual conflict or harmony.

? Texture contrast. Play with different surfaces and textures - smooth objects against rough ones create interesting visual effects.

? Mood contrast. This is a more philosophical approach: contrast different emotions or moods in the same shot - for example, joy against a gloomy landscape. This can add depth and make the viewer think.

Contrast is as much about technique as it is about creativity.
