Android vs iOS

• As we know android users have been migrating to ios for a while now but he percentage of Android users that switched to iOS decreased in 2023.

• A report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) found that 13% of iPhone buyers switched from Android to iOS in 20231.

• This number is a decrease from the prior year’s figure, which saw 15% of iPhone buyers come from an Android phone.

However, over a five-year period, iPhone buyers are coming from Android phones at a steady 11-15% clip.

• Over the last five years, the percentage of iPhone buyers coming from an Android phone has fluctuated between 11% and 15%.

• Android powers nearly 70% of all smartphones worldwide. iOS comes in at nearly 30% — less than half that of Android. Android is losing to iOS in key markets. 61% of smartphone users in the U.S. run iOS.

Avast, a company that offers free antivirus and privacy software.

• They have been fined $16.5 million by the FTC for selling users browsing data to third parties without their consent.

• Avast claimed that its software would protect users’ privacy, but secretly collected and monetized their online activity through a subsidiary called Jumpshot.

• The data included information such as websites visited, search queries, and clicks, and was sold to advertisers, analytics firms, and other companies.
Avast failed to adequately disclose its data collection practices and obtain users’ opt-in consent, and continued to collect data even after announcing that it would stop in 2020.

• Avast agreed to settle the charges and delete all the data it had collected from users. The FTC said that Avast’s conduct was “egregious” and “undermined consumers’ trust in the online marketplace”.
