Your listening materials should not be limited to only practice tests. ❌
Actually, doing solely practice tests don't make big difference.

Instead, you should be listening to a variaty of topics, accents, contexts and even people. There so many options to listen to and to watch:
Movies?
Seminars or lectures on your favourite topic ?
Conversations on You Tube ?
Podcasts ?
Songs ?
Cartoons ⛄️
Audiobooks ?

?Listen to this kind of authentic materials on a daily basis. Use practice tests to monitor your progress from time to time, approximately twice a week.

Want to improve your listening “successfully”?

Here is my formula for listening 9:

If you do these two things, your success is 100% guaranteed: ?

1. Listen to a lot of English every day. ?
2. Do it for a long period of time. ?

The strategy is quite simple. ? What is difficult is to be persistent and to stick to this strategy. After a month of hard work, you will develop a regular habit of listening to English which makes your preparation less stressful and more enjoyable. ?

Here are some other tips to ease all challenges in this process.

Appropriate material ?*?Do not use too difficult or too easy materials. ??‍♀️*** There is no use in listening to them. Choose those which are challenging and slightly above your level.
Examples of challenging material:

A conversation in which people speak a bit fast (but you can still follow the conversation). ✅

A conversation that contains some words and phrases you don’t know (but you still understand the main idea). ✅

A conversation in which you can understand 80 – 90% of the content.✅

Work with scripts ?*Listen and read along: Follow the text while you listen. This will make strong connections for you in respect to pronunciation and understanding key words. Notice how the keywords are pronounced clearer and louder than other words. ?***

Get Real ?
English isn’t just a test. It is a language. IELTS tests you on your knowledge and skill of this language. One of the best ways to learn a language well and to do well on the test is to use English in real life. So chat, text, call, email, discuss, and laugh in English! ??‍♀️

Think In English?*Many language experts agree about one key rule. Thinking in a specific language helps you learn that language. Many students often translate everything in their heads.?
❌***Don’t do that!
Translating has two main problems. First, it is slower. Second, you remember your language and forget English.
On the listening exam you won’t have time to translate. Also, you’ll have to remember key English words. So, when you’re practicing English… think in English!
