Dear Kyotees,

Further to this morning's message, and as we close out 2024, we wanted to take this opportunity to speak openly and sincerely about our journey, the challenges we’ve faced and the path we see before us.

First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the frustration that many of you feel. The delays, disappointments, and – on occasion – lack of communication this year have tested your patience—and rightfully so. The pause in updates since our last message stemmed, not only, from the festive period but also from the need to recalibrate and continue discussions with all stakeholders to ensure we make the right decisions for Kyoto’s future.

This time of year naturally invites reflection and, for us, that reflection brings a mix of accountability, humility, optimism and renewed determination.
It would be all too easy to dwell on the challenges—the obstacles we didn’t foresee, the missteps we’ve made, and the weight of expectations not yet fulfilled. But reflection without accountability serves no purpose. So, let us be clear: while we, as a project, have been let down by third parties, we ultimately take full responsibility for the setbacks and the impact they’ve had on you, our community.

Despite the hurdles, 2024 was not without progress. Momentous foundational work has been completed, and the lessons we’ve learned have been pivotal in reshaping our approach. The fact that the blockchain has been ready for months and that we have been, essentially, launch-ready in many respects for some time has also brought about much frustration for our team and our DAO who have worked so hard to get us to this point. This journey has not been easy, but it has taught us invaluable lessons about what is needed for a launch that will move us forward, despite the challenges we’ve faced.

As we usher in 2025, we’re also fully committed to ushering in a new era for Kyoto. This new year brings with it the chance to build on the strong groundwork we’ve laid, and a more focused understanding of how to move towards a set launch date with no further delays.

Here is our promise to you in 2025:

- To launch Kyoto as soon as possible.
- To keep you as informed as we possibly can, during every step of our ongoing journey.
- To deliver measurable milestones in a timely manner.
- To build on the progress we’ve made with the same tenacity that has brought us through the most difficult moments.

To every single one of you who has stood by Kyoto, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your support, even in frustration, has been the backbone of this project. It’s your belief in the potential of Kyoto that drives us forward, and we are committed to repaying that faith in 2025.

Let us move forward together, with accountability for the past and optimism for the future. Here’s to a new year filled with progress, resilience and the shared ambition to make you truly proud of what Kyoto is, can and will become.
