I was looking at the scourge marks on the thighs of the shroud image and noticed that they radiate from single loci on each side of his body, as if 2 scourgers were employed, one on either side.

However, when I looked at the dorsal side, it appears that the abdomen and legs were scourged by only one scourger.

I also noticed that the blood flow from his wrists is in a direction that would be downwards if his arms were in a crucifixion position.

To achieve the kingdom of God may require breaking from previous groups, breaking from previous habits, opposing wrongdoers, making sacrifices for family or community, refusing dishonest gain. These are all forms of suffering.

Breaking away from an old life so you can enter a new one, or opposing an old system so a new one can arise.

Romans is focused on the subject of righteousness through faith . The importance of faith is emphasised through out the Bible by the concept of mercy and the sabbath . It is not through works but through mercy that god approaches mankind
