?IgA nephropathy vs post-streptococcal GN

▪️IgA occurs after 3 days after URTI //
while post streptococcal occurs after 2 ( in URTI ) - 4 weeks ( in skin infection)

▪️post-streptococcal more aggressive with hypertension,haematuria,severe proteinuria, peripheral oedema  ,severe fluid retention

While in IgA just gross haematuria with small amounts or absent proteinuria

▪️IgA is recurrent while
post-streptococcal GN occurs only after streptococcal skin or respiratory ( sore throat) infection

?Hypertension +low renin+ low aldosterone ➡️ Liddle syndrome

?Hypertension + high renin + high aldosterone ➡️ Renal artery stenosis

?Hypertension +low renin +high aldosterone ➡️ Conn’s syndrome

?Hypertension + small unilateral kidney (or bilateral) ➡️ renal artery stenosis

?Causes of HTN with hypoklemia include
▪️ conn’s syndrome
▪️ cushing syndrome
▪️ liddel's syndrome
▪️ renal artery stenosis
▪️over diuretic use in hypertensive patient
