On regionalism.

There's an interesting pattern to the twin cancers of linguistic chauvinism and regionalism.

Its always led by the socio-politically dominant landlord castes, who mobilize their disenfranchised kin along with lower castes to attack outsiders and business owners

These landed elites are the biggest losers in the modern era as the social structure of society has changed considerably due to the shift in economic conditions.

Earlier these groups were strong because they controlled the means of production in the form of land and labour.

Now, these castes have started to experience stagnation and a breakdown of their families due to poverty and vice. The richer ones who were influential leaders in the past have understood that if things continue like this they will lose the little power and influence they currently have.

So they try to channel the built-up resentment into politics and the victims are always the urbanites who now constitute the productive section of society.

The state is by itself beholden this interest group as they constitute an large and influential voting bloc, while outsiders have little to no influence in the democratic setup so getting justice is easier said than done.

Where this will lead us is yet to be seen but whatever it is, the entire thing is a bit organic and not just a conspiracy by a political entity to gain votes or win elections.

There's so much randi rona over the Ram mandir aesthetics on Dindu nationalist twitter these days. What amazes me is how nobody is able to see what the actual problem is.
