Myanmar repatriates one citizen from Saudi Arabia
THE government has been making efforts to repatriate Myanmar nationals who are encountering difficulties abroad by coordinating with the Myanmar Consulate-General and relevant embassies to ensure their safe return to Myanmar.
The Myanmar Embassy in Saudi Arabia communicated with the authorities of Riyadh to repatriate one Myanmar female citizen, Ma Thuzar Moe, who faced hardships in Riyadh, by flight on 28 July, and she arrived back in Yangon yesterday evening.
Ma Thuzar Moe was sent by employment agents to Dubai for job prospects in September 2023, and she lived at the agent’s office for 20 days. She worked at a house in Riyadh at Saudi riyal K1,200 per month for six months. Although she sent her salary to her family, the agency did not transfer it. She ran away from her work site three times because of poor relations with her employer. She fell from the window of the third floor while she was trying to escape from that house in June 2024. Her employer sent her to the Myanmar Embassy.
The embassy provided her with medical assistance and accommodation. After the negotiation with the relevant Saudi Arabia authority, she obtained her exit permit and arrived back in Yangon yesterday evening.
The victim said, “I live in Thaphanpin village in Pakokku Township. I arrived in Singapore, then Dubai and Riyadh for job prospects. I have to babysit three children in Riyadh and do housework. I am exhausted and feel sleep deprivation. My family does not receive any of my salary; they only get a salary of four months, although I worked there for six and a half months. I cannot stand tiredness anymore, and I have not received my full salary.
“Therefore, I told my employer that I wanted to return to my country, but I failed. I got an injury at my waist, and the employer sent me to the Myanmar Embassy. I thank the ambassador, minister-counsellor and staff who took care of me. I don’t want others to face such difficulties in other countries just like me, as others deceived me for a well-paid job. I want to urge all to decide carefully. I would like to thank the Myanmar Embassy and relevant officials for giving a hand to its national who is encountering challenges.”

Heavy rain floods Yangon-Mandalay, YangonMawlamyine, and Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin railways
DURING the current rainy season, heavy rainfall has been affecting Bago Region, Ayeyawady Region, and Mon State since 27 July. Consequently, flooding has occurred on the railways between Bago Station and Phayagyi Station on the Yangon-Mandalay line, as well as between Bago Station and Kali Station on the Bago-Mawlamyine line. Flooding has also impacted some areas in Kyaunggon, Kangyidaunt and Yekyi townships along the Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin railway section.
Due to water levels exceeding nine inches above the surface of the railroads and bridges, Myanma Railways had to arrange alternative transportation for passengers. On 28 July, 106 passengers from a special train travelling from Bago to Penwegon Station were transferred to Mandalay via the No 12 Down train. Similarly, 116 passengers from the No 12 Down train were moved from Penwegon to Phayagyi by the RBE train and then to Yangon by two vehicles. Additionally, 463 passengers from the 82 Down train travelling from Mawlamyine were transferred from Kali to Bago by the RBE train and then to Yangon by a special train.
On the morning of 29 July, train services on the Yangon-Mandalay and Yangon-Mawlamyine routes were temporarily suspended due to the flooding. Services along the Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin railway section in Ayeyawady Region have also been temporarily halted since 27 July.

Misinformation: Prison authorities lock up inmates in Kyaikmaraw Prison for no reason
A Facebook page named Khit Thit Media posted fake news with the title “Prison authorities beat five political prisoners in Kyaikmaraw Prison for no reason, locked them up and are facing many charges in prison” on 16 July in an attempt to mislead the public.
In verifying the truth of the incident, five inmates, including Nyi Nyi (aka) Ashay Gyi, smeared the three CCTV cameras installed for security with whitewash on the walls of the dormitory with the intention of impairing the visibility and security on 27 June, according to the CCTV records.
Under the Prisoners’ Act, the officer in charge sentenced these prisoners to two weeks of confinement in shackles, a one-month loss of the right to receive parcels, a one-month loss of seeing visitors, and to be placed in a separate building after serving two weeks of confinement.
When the punishment was imposed and moved to the apartment, officials did not beat inmates, and inmates were not prosecuted in court, but the officer in charge managed them under the Prisoners Act. Khit Thit Media’s claims are fabricated with the intention of misleading the public.

Malicious media spreads fake news: 10 civilians detained in Launglon
MALICIOUS media outlets intentionally spread fake news, claiming that the security forces raided Yinboke and Pyinchaung villages in Launglon Township in Taninthayi Region, torched the houses and detained 10 locals, on 22 July.
According to a security official, security forces conducted security measures in the vicinity areas of these two villages on 22 July, and they did not torch the village or arrest villagers. Subversive media outlets intentionally circulate false claims and misinformation to threaten people and mislead the public about the security forces carrying out security duty.

Clarification by Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, Information Team Leader of the State Administration Council, on events in Shan State (North)
TODAY, I will explain the stand of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the events in Shan State (North).
On 27 October 2023, MNDAA, joined by TNLA and AA, crossed Namtit Creek through Special Region 2, Wa region, and started to attack Chinshwehaw at the China-Myanmar border. Those incidents had already been explained. At the same time, TNLA attacked Namhkam, Hsenwi and Kutkai. The group started to attack the areas around Hsenwi, Kunlong and Laukkai, and on 22 December, it attacked the Mongtung area. The TNLA combined group started its attack against the area in and around Namtu. On 5 January 2024, MNDAA and its cohorts launched attacks against the area in and around Hopang.
On 25 June 2024, TNLA and its allies attacked Nawnghkio and Kyaukme and the security posts in their vicinity. On 3 July, the combined group, including MNDAA, started to attack the surrounding area of Lashio and launched attacks with shortrange rockets, drones, and drop bombs at the town daily.
MNDAA attacked the surrounding area of Chinshwehaw and Kokang territory under the heading – curb online gambling (Kyaphyant). As online gambling fraud is a clandestine business carried out in hotels and other secret places in border areas, including Laukkai, the government had no knowledge about it. Chinese criminals who evaded arrest in China were running this illegal business, and most of the victims of the online gambling fraud were Chinese citizens. Hence, the majority of Myanmar people knew nothing about illegal business. As soon as it got information about the illegal business, the Myanmar government actively joined hands with China to eliminate it not only in the Kokang region, but also in other border areas. Till yesterday, the Myanmar government apprehended 51,851 Chinese citizens, 1,143 Vietnamese citizens, and 640 Thai citizens in Mongpauk, Laukkai, Tachilek and Muse regions, and Myawady (Shwekokko, KK Park). It had transferred 2,150 suspects to their home countries. Later, MNDAA launched the slogan to seize Special Region 1 of the Kokang area. MNDAA met NUG, presented its territory, held talks and launched attacks in the areas beyond the Kokang region. In fact, MNDAA was echoing NUG. It was recruiting even the juveniles in the Kokang area and captured other national races, including Bamar migrant workers in the region and forced them to join it in the battles. It banned schools and all educational activities. TNLA was doing the same. Later, territorial disputes surfaced among the armed groups.
The combined armed group started attacks against Lashio on 3 July and was firing short-range rockets and launching drone attacks randomly against the town daily from afar, and 18 innocent civilians were killed, and another 24 were wounded. Locals faced socioeconomic hardships in every region it seized. The group launched drone and drop bomb attacks against a Chinese temple near Lashio Airport at 7 am yesterday. Locals, including Chinese residents in Lashio, disfavoured and opposed the combined group of MNDAA. At the same time, the government and Tatmadaw prioritize the security of the people, including the town’s residents.
In conclusion, I would like to request the entire people to join hands in the seriously prioritized measures by the government to protect towns and villages and local people from terrorist attacks of MNDAA and TNLA to ensure their safety and security. Thank you.
