Thank you all in advance❤️
This day in history is the death of Genghis Khan.
On August 18, 1227, Genghis Khan died at the age of 65. Ambiguous, but definitely one of the brightest personalities in history. Being not the most influential person, Genghis Khan made his way to power and built one of the most powerful empires in history.
This day in history is the Izmit earthquake.
On August 17, 1999, at three o'clock in the morning, an earthquake struck near the Turkish city of Izmit, which claimed 17 thousand lives. Another 600 thousand were left homeless - 150 aftershocks immediately followed the 7.6-point shock. About 120 thousand buildings of the city could not be restored.
Here is the promised track
This is the day in history when the phonograph was invented.
On August 12, 1877, Thomas Edison made one of the key discoveries in the history of mankind - he found a simple and affordable way to record sound. The technology has been developed since the middle of the 19th century, but Edison executed it gracefully. As a bonus, I attach one of the first entries in history.
Charles Jouin was the head baker on the Titanic and survived by an incomprehensible combination of circumstances.
As a gentleman should, he loaded women and children into the boats. In between, the men drank all the alcohol they could. When the last boats sailed, Jouin got drunk.
And then he fell into the water, which usually kills drunk people faster...but not in this case. The temperature in the ocean was -2, and the vessels expanded by alcohol shrank with cold, finding a balance that, if desired, it is almost impossible to reproduce. As a result, the baker spent 2 hours in the water, was calm, did not feel any pain or cold and was saved.
This is the day in history when an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
On August 6, 1945, the United States used an atomic bomb against Japan. You probably know the rest, so let's just pray that these bombings were the last use of nuclear weapons in history.
