The Liberals are refusing to support cutting immigration because it's integral to "the economy" apparently - whenever you hear conservative politicians talk about "the economy" realise they are actually talking just about the interests of big business.

We are currently in a per capita recession, wages are stagnant and the cost of everything is surging. This is an arrangement that immigration facilitates, it serves the short term interests of big business to keep labour costs down and demand for whatever they're selling up. All immigration is doing from an economic perspective is protecting big business from the recession and making YOU pay for it in full.

The Liberal Party may try and give the impression that it's against the immigration policies of the Labor government, but that is a campaign strategy not a reality. The business lobby will always determine their policies on immigration not the will of the people, because the business lobby finances the party. Unless a party tells the business lobby, property lobby, etc. to go fuck themselves don't expect them to cut immigration to any significant degree.
