**✒ Two Greeds That Harm A Man's Deen*

Prophet Muḥammad Ṣallallāhu-ʿAlaihi Wa Sallam said:

ما ذئبان جائعان أرسلا في غنم بأفسد لها من حرص المرء على المال والشرف لدينه

“Two hungry wolves sent among a flock of sheep are NOT MORE destructive to them than a person's GREED for WEALTH and FAME are to his RELIGION.”

*Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) mentioned that there are 6 times in which the du’ā of an individual is accepted:

• The last 3rd of the night
• At the time of the Ādhān
• Between the Ādhān & the Iqāmah
• After the 5 daily prayers
• When the Imām climbs the Mimbar on Friday
• The final hour of Friday*

*Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“There is a connection between the eyes and the heart — whatever one of them engages in, the other will engage in. When one is good, the other will be good; when one is corrupt, the other will be corrupt. If the heart is corrupt, the eyes will be corrupt, and if the eyes are corrupt, the heart will be corrupt. His heart becomes like a dunghill, which is the place of filth and impurities.

Consequently, his heart is not suitable to house knowledge of Allāh, love for Him, devotion towards Him, and happiness from nearness to Him. It is only suitable to house its opposite.”

*1. "There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah."

(Narrated by Aisha, reported in Sahih Muslim)

1. "Fasting on the Day of Arafat expiates for the sins of the past year and the coming year."

(Narrated by Abu Qatada, reported in Sahih Muslim)

1. "The Prophet (peace be upon him) fasted on the Day of Arafat, and he said, 'This day is an expiation for the past year and the coming year.'"

(Narrated by Ibn Abbas, reported in Sahih Bukhari)

1. "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafah, and He moves closer to those who fast on that day and says, "Take away their sins and put them in the scales of good deeds."'"

(Narrated by Ibn Abbas, reported in Jami` at-Tirmidhi)*

*An excellent formula for the last ten days of Ramadan

1. Donate one dirham (one rupee) every day, if the day falls between Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of donating one rupee every day for 84 years or 1000 months.

2. Perform two rak'at nafal prayers daily, if the day falls in the middle of Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of performing two rak'at nafal prayers daily for up to 84 years.

3. Recite Surah Ikhlas three times daily, if the day falls in the middle of Lailatul Qadr, you will get the reward of reciting one Khatam Qur'an every day for 84 years.

He also said, spread these words among the people, those who will listen to your words and do deeds, you too will get rewards equal to their deeds, inshallah. Because the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, "The one who guides good deeds will receive the same amount of reward as the doer, but there will be no deficiency in the reward of the doer." (Muslim, 2674)
