Yes, I am Russian.

So, why do I write in English?
Let me start with a story. In 2008, I began blogging on LiveJournal. If you remember this platform, give me a shoutout! This was a pivotal moment for me because it marked the beginning of my high-level English journey.

At first, I posted in Russian: I wrote stories, and although my audience was small, people did read my work. They would often tell me, “I read what you write, and it’s interesting.”

And then I started prepping for TOEFL. At that time, I was struggling to express myself effectively in writing, despite being fairly fluent in English. I faced what is commonly known as writer’s block.
To overcome this challenge, I decided to start blogging in English.

This decision not only helped me improve my writing skills and later, during my gap year in the US, I continued blogging in English.

I haven’t stopped since.

I am aware that my readership is predominantly Russian, and some may find it challenging to read in English, which is why I get muted.

However, I have met people who say my blog motivates them, and they encourage me to continue. I believe I write especially for those teachers who are always developing.

Their feedback is what keeps me going, even during my lowest moments.

My blog also serves as a bridge between different cultures, and I hope it remains that way. I continue to meet wonderful people online and offline who discovered my blog because it is in English. (Hi Alex, hi Curtis, hi Eva!)

This cross-cultural connection is something I value deeply.

Bottom line, writing in English has been a transformative experience for me. It has allowed me to grow as a writer, connect with diverse audiences, and inspire others. Gonna keep it up)
