This was the piece I wrote for the competition. After I heard the rather bemusing comments from the judges, I went on and wrote to them, "You don't deserve this art."

Truth I am, The Observer. I’m commonly known for saying, “The damned shall prevail,” in Latin, before adding, “Until they no longer do.” I see the world for what it is, as hyperbolic as it seems. Truth is, lies sell, as much as I predict them. Hell, “truth”…

Truth

I am,
The Observer.

I’m commonly known for saying,
“The damned shall prevail,”
in Latin,
before adding,
“Until they no longer do.”

I see the world for what it is,
as hyperbolic as it seems.
Truth is, lies sell, as much as I predict them.
Hell, “truth” is so subdivided nowadays,
it seems like everyone has their own version of it.

One “truth” told to us by the never ending lies of the world,
is that our future is bleak, bland
hopelessly banal and uninspiring to say the least.

years back, I
took this “truth” at face value,
and let it crush me,
and the damned world prevailed,
until I decided to
no longer let her do so.
This made me realize that
too many times, we’ve been called worthless,
that everything we do isn’t of any substance,
and as much we tried, the world frowned at us
as if we lacked any purpose.

But it’s up to us to deny her
and any of the voices that are in consensus with her,
the privilege of us letting up.
For as damned as she may be
and as indomitable as she seems,
her reign can come to an end.
As long as we,
thrive amidst calamity,
die with immortality,
the future will be ours,
so help us God.

Now it's time to get back to posting what I write. I was holding back because I didn't want to bring too much traffic to my page after the announcement I advanced. But there's a bunch of new stuff on the way. See you guys soon ?
