Freedom for comrade Abdul Rahman Khalil! `we learned with great concern that on July 10, armed units affiliated with the so-called "Autonomous Administration of Northeast Syria" arrested Comrade Abdul Rahman Khalil, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Syria.
The Kurdish separatists who control the so-called "Rojava" region, and who also act in Europe to confuse the left, have once again cast their mask as collaborators with U.S. imperialism in anti-communist repression.
This is serious because it targets a member of the Syrian parliament in an attempt to prevent him from running again. The Communist Party (Switzerland) express solidarity with the Syrian communists who struggle with all patriots in safeguarding the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Arab Republic of Syria.`
In May 2019, the Swiss Federal Government responded negatively to a request from the Communist Party to grant Julian Assange political asylum. Thus, despite the subservience to the U.S. shown on that occasion by official Switzerland, after 14 years of harassment the journalist is now finally free: a possible outcome because all these years internationalist mobilization has been broad and continuous putting pressure on U.S. imperialism. The struggle pays off but now we should not delude ourselves: we are familiar with the vindictive violence of the U.S. and so it will be necessary to continue to be vigilant.
Today we were at the presidium against the opening of a NATO office in Geneva. Our comrade Stefano Araújo, spoke as a member of the leadership of the Swiss Peace Movement and emphasised the need to preserve Swiss neutrality!
Bürgenstock damages Switzerland's diplomatic credibility and brings us closer to war!
Career diplomats and officers of the Swiss Army can no longer keep quiet while the government takes us to war!
The leftist President of Colombia Gustavo Petro (who leads a coalition government with the Labour Party of Colombia and the Colombian Communist Party-Patriotic Union) announced on Saturday morning that he had cancelled his visit to the so-called 'Peace Conference' convened at the Bürgenstock by the Swiss federal government regarding the conflict in the Ukraine. A courageous act that, as Swiss Communists, we can only welcome!
President Petro renounced his participation with these diplomatically and politically heavy, but absolutely agreeable words: 'what we have found in connection with the peace conference, in quotes, in Switzerland, is that it is basically an alignment with war, and we do not agree with that'. He also stated that 'it is necessary to restore and strengthen international law, not to create military blocs of states': a balanced statement we would have liked to hear from Ignazio Cassis!
After having collected a 'No' from important emerging BRICS nations starting with China and arriving at South Africa and Brazil, who are in fact only attending with observers, and having to limit themselves to welcoming a mid-level delegate from India, we can see that at this weekend's expensive summit taking place with leading delegations are practically only NATO and EU countries and their allies, who represent a minority of the international community and are in fact at war with Russia. Moreover, among them, there are also European presidents who hold positions with no real political power in their own countries and thus their participation is to be considered merely symbolic. Apart from the propaganda, therefore, in diplomatic terms this represents a flop that further damages Swiss neutrality.
The Swiss Federal Government initially let it believe that it also wanted to invite Russia, then admitted that this would not be the case so as not to displease Ukrainian President (at the end of his term of office) Zelensky. This unilaterality alone makes Bürgenstosk not a real peace conference but a meeting to reorganise support for the Ukraine: an outrage for a country that wants to be neutral and an insult to Swiss diplomacy, once respected everywhere and by all governments left and right. Not only will the Bürgenstock summit not lead to peace, but probably not even to de-escalation, with the risk of involving Switzerland in a nuclear world war.
The Communist Party of Switzerland, concerned about the situation, appeals not only to young 18-year old conscripts to opt for alternative civil service and conscientious objection to not doing military service, but also to career diplomats and officers in our Army, who are realising the dangerous dead end we are ending up in, to finally take a stand and call for the restoration of neutrality and a sovereign foreign policy independent of the EU and NATO.
Exactly 15 years ago, on June 7, 2009, the 20th Congress of the Communist Party was held in Bellinzona, at the end of which Comrade Massimiliano Ay was elected General secretary.
Although we were coming out of a crisis, we had been able to withstand the blow and the militant body had remained almost intact, especially the youth section.
We wanted to return to scientific socialism as a method of organization and conduct, and thus greater class independence and a more incisive, less folkloric strategic approach: an end to the eclecticism that had distorted the rigorous tradition of comrade Pietro Monetti's original Party.
From 2009 we have profoundly renewed the party, both in terms of numbers and - more importantly - in terms of ideological and methodological solidity.
We have now entered a new historical phase that requires the Party to refocus on two priorities: Neutrality and Labour rights, which are also expressed in the slogan “No EU - No NATO.”
Tomorrow evening in Zurich a conference uniting Swiss anti-imperialist forces against rapprochement with NATO. A top delegation of the Communist Party will also be present.
