The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to
you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for
it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.
Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! § The blood of the Lamb. § The precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. § Without shedding of blood there is no remission. § The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
With His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. § Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, … let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.

Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.
It happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah’s head, so that he grew faint. Then he wished death for himself, and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”
Job spoke, and said:.. “Why is light given to him who is in misery, and life to the bitter of soul, who long for death, but it does not come, and search for it more than hidden treasures?” § Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? “Father, save Me from this hour”? § In all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

We also eagerly wait for the Savior.

The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. § We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.
Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. § And it will be said in that day: “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”

Evening

Run in such a way that you may obtain [the prize].

The lazy man says, “There is a lion outside!” § Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
I press toward the goal. § I run thus: not with uncertainty… I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. The form of this world is passing away.
Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent. § Gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Morning

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble;
and He knows those who trust in Him.

Praise the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good, for His mercy endures forever. § God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. § I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.” § Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty! § As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?
If anyone loves God, this one is known by Him. § The solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” § The Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. § You have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name.

I want you to be without care.

He cares for you. § The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! § The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. § Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? § Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Our Lord Jesus . . . that great Shepherd of the sheep.

The Chief Shepherd. § I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own… My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. § I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. § I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick. § You were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it,

I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and those who journeyed with me… So I said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” § Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. § The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended.

How great is Your goodness, which You have
laid up for those who fear You.

Since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him. § “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. § You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the foundation of life; in Your light we see light.
Godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

The Son of God . . . has eyes like a flame of fire.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. § You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. § The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then . . . Peter went out and wept bitterly.
Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man. § He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. § A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench.

Morning

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom
you were sealed for the day of redemption.

The love of the Spirit. § The Helper, the Holy Spirit. § In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them; in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bore them and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; so He turned Himself against them as an enemy, and He fought against them.
We know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. § Having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession. § I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. § The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.

I will return again to My place till they acknowledge
their offense. Then they will seek My face.

Your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you. § My beloved had turned away and was gone. I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. § I hid and was angry, and he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, and will heal him. § Have you not brought this on yourself, in that you have forsaken the Lord your God when He led you in the way?
He arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. § I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, for My anger has turned away.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

You shall put the two stones on the shoulders of the
ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. So
Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord.

[Jesus], because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. § [He] is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory.
Seeing … that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace.
The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him, who shelters him all the day long; and he shall dwell between His shoulders.

That night the king could not sleep.

You hold my eyelids open. § Who is like the Lord our God, … who humbles Himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. § Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps were not known. § The wrath of man shall praise You; with the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.
The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. § We know that all things work together for good to those who love God.
Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Morning

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.

The world is passing away, and the lust of it. § Surely every man walks about like a shadow; surely they busy themselves in vain; he heaps up riches, and does not know who will gather them. § What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. § I want you to be without care.
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. § The Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. § The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.

The Helper, the Holy Spirit. § Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? § It is God who works in you.
We do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. § A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench.
The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
