The Noble Shaykh 'Adnān Al-Masqarī - May Allāh Raise His Rank - Said:

"Know, may Allāh have mercy upon you.

The dunyā will come to the student of knowledge from everywhere; therefore, he should place it in his hand and under his feet, and he shouldn't be pleased for it to enter his heart. If he lets it penetrate his heart, he will incline towards it, and it will be a reason for him being trialled, either with the trial of money or the trial of innovation and partisanship."

(ومن يتعفف يعفه الله ومن يستغن يغنه الله وما أعطي أحد عطاء خيرا وأوسع من الصبر)
"Whoever seeks self-sufficiency, Allāh will make him self-sufficient, and whoever seeks contentment, Allāh will make him content. And none is given a gift better and more vast than patience. "

Answered By Ash-Shaykh Abul-Yamān Adnān Ibn Hussain Al-Masqarī - May Allāh Preserve Him

? Question:

Which is better: to free myself up to seek knowledge or to combine between seeking knowledge and working? I would like some advice. 

✏️ Answer:

The advice for you, O brother, in this time is to free yourself up to seek knowledge; for the knowledge, if you give it your all, it will only give you a part of it in return. So free yourself up for seeking knowledge, my brother.

As for the provisions, then perhaps Allāh will facilitate for you provisions sooner or later, and Allāh will never forsake you. Imām Al-Wādi'ī, may Allah have mercy upon him, has titled a chapter: "Seeking Knowledge Is From the Means of Provision." Therefore, commit yourself fully to the Qurān, Sunnah, and lessons. 

If you can't find anyone who will support and help you and give you that which you'll use to seek knowledge, or you have a debt and the lenders are impatient, then get a job while seeking knowledge. Work; even if it's some light work, search in the dawah and work with the dawah. Some people write books, record, and publish; they work in this field, which is in essence seeking knowledge.
