Had some health stuff but posting first blog tonight

So, I’m making a vlog

Cringe ik, but got the idea from Nas Daily (he’s a cretin otherwise).

Basically, every day I’ll film a bit about the day. 1 minute minimum but hopefully I’ll talk for longer.

Topics should be a bit about the day but more or less anything that interested me (like a paper I’m writing).

Anyway, I’ll be posting it to a YT channel and maybe a TG one too. Not focused on getting popular but just for myself.

Challenge is to do it for a month, starting today. Maybe I’ll continue after.

We had over 87 people in yesterday's marathon, largest session in the Charity Marathon yet.

The session raised over 350k, which in itself is something I'm happy about.

Finally, we had our first CAEA lesson. Was pretty happy about how that went, we tried to make it both insightful and interactive.

So yeah, yesterday was fun

But I'm sorta realizing I don't post anything super unique here, maybe it's cause I haven't gone to college yet, maybe there I'll post something fun.

Hell, this entire channel was made as a joke (check the description, never changed it), never thought we'd get this big (which I'm very thankful for) but it makes me think why do I even have one. I mean, this was sorta made just in response to everyone making one at the time.

Maybe I'll keep it informative AND post fun stuff from Babson. Maybe I'll talk more about the business(s) I'll run (legit taking a course at Babson which will give me money to run one, so yeah)

So yep, less than 2 months left until I'm in Boston, can't wait)

On Extracurricular Programs

Got to talk to an ex-brown admissions officer about a few things, one of them being the prevalence of programs like Pioneer Academics, Lumiere research, etc.

These were sited as “eye-roll inducing” ECs by the officer. These are, for the most part, pay-to-play programs which are specifically curated for admissions, something you never want to come off as (doing stuff for admissions).

Of course there are caveats to every rule, many have been admitted with these programs because what matters is not just the EC, but the experience you get from it and what you can say about it.

Also, this was the opinion of one admissions officer, opinions will vary on it person-to-person.

(P.S, you’ll notice many of the top admits had either zero programs or just 1, maybe 2. Yet again not universal but it’s to show what matters more is what you get from the programs, not just doing the program for the resume)

So conclusion, if you’re doing what everyone else is doing, you’re setting yourself up for failure a lot of the time (stole this quote)

Don’t take IBs or A-levels if ur school doesn’t offer them.

A lot of ppl ask about this now because they see PS school successes get in a lot nowadays

Reality is these kids got in not because of the PS, but because the PSs gather those types of people

You need no A-levels or IBs if your school doesn’t offer them, admissions officers won’t think “oh they don’t have A-levels reject rip”

All they want to see is that you challenged yourself to the max in your school context (emphasis on IN) and an SAT, that’s it.

Ppl who study A-levels do so for years, spending upwards of 4 hours daily on them occasionally, it ain’t the SAT that u can get done in a few months of practice

So yeah, you CAN take these tests and they will benefit your application, but should you?

(You could literally write a book in the same time you would spend on A-levels or IBs you don’t need)
