From CTRAMM: Today marks a day that many American parents have long awaited—the confirmation hearing of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. For years, RFK Jr. has been a leading advocate for clean water, challenging the dumping of toxic chemicals into our water supply, questioning the safety of the drugs in our food and water, and scrutinizing the broader environmental and health impacts of such practices. He has also courageously questioned the efficacy of immunizations and the overall standards of medical practices.

Senators Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, however, are working hard to block his confirmation. They’ve labeled him a dangerous spreader of misinformation, a narrative that has trickled down into Connecticut's state legislature, further marginalizing parents like me. For over a decade, I’ve been gaslighted by lawmakers for my stance on immunizations. As a former Democrat and a parent, I urge you not to relent.

Do not let their attempts to derail this confirmation go unchallenged. Call Senators Murphy and Blumenthal. Implore that, as your representatives in Connecticut, they confirm RFK Jr. and stop pandering to pharmaceutical and agricultural lobbyists. It’s time they listen to their constituents, not corporate interests.

Here's what really happened with Eversource. I just got off the phone with my State Representative, Tim Ackert, and he explained in great detail what was going on. In February of this year, the republicans asked for a special session to discuss the plan for the resolution of the $800 million dollar moratorium that happened during COVID. There is an act called ARPA (American Recovery Plan Act) which has $700 million, which would have essentially wiped out the charges. The Democratic Majority refused the session and PURA and the Governor voted for this charge. There are 5 commissioner positions on PURA and 2 remain unfilled. Marissa Gillette is the Chair and she voted against the Public Benefit charge. Michael Caron, another on the committee voted for it and promptly retired. There is a new commissioner, David Arconte who was just appointed. In addition, last week they voted on the EV charge which he said could come from the federal infrastructure money given to the state, but again, the Governor and PURA voted essentially to pass that onto tax payers. Since this started, they have sent two letters, the second today, to the governor for a special meeting to amend this bill, with no response. His suggestion was to continue to call and email the governors office (860-566-4840) and he said that the way to avoid this kind of mess would be to vote republican because right now the democrats have the majority, but if the legislature were more even, then the republicans could check and have more say on what is happening.
