What’s the ruling on making Hajj on behalf of prisoners?

Imām as-Sarkhasī al-Hanafī (Died 483AH) رحمه الله mentioned in his book “Al-Mabsūt” (4/159):

“It’s permissible to perform the Hajj of Islām on behalf of a prisoner who passes away before being released, since it’s firmly established he had no chance in being able to perform it physically.”
