The way they locked us into the system began with (I believe) mortgages, that begat the necessity for a regular wage which allowed the state to demand income tax with the sweetener of social security - paid out some time in the future.
After that the whole payment in future of credit exploded and the vast majority who never had much debt suddenly became more and more indebted because they were/are seduced by advertising that their lives could be so much better IF they have XYZ.

That's my conclusion so far.

Edit: the trouble with this debt based system is that it's predicated on continuous debt, no longer on productive businesses but on assets like houses and cars etc....creating asset bubbles. This is simplistic of course but easily understandable.

On a slightly different note. Anti-war Irish MEP duo Mick Wallace along with Clare Daly have lost their seats. I'm somewhat stunned...how and why do passionate anti-war voices lose in this current climate?!?!
