Do not forget the jews))
A person should always compare Allah's mercy and virtue towards them with their own shortcomings, because such awareness of one's duty to Allah pushes a person towards righteousness.
Tafsir 59:19
Seeking Forgiveness on the Last Day of Ramadan
Ibn Rajab, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
والإستغفار ختام الأعمال الصالحة كلها فيختم به الصلاة والحج وقيام الليل ويختم به المجالس فإن كانت ذكرا كان كالطابع عليها وإن كانت لغوا كان كفارة لها فكذلك ينبغي أن تختم صيام رمضان بالاستغفار
“Istighfar (seeking forgiveness) is the culmination of all righteous deeds: it concludes prayer, pilgrimage, night prayers, and gatherings. If the gathering was in remembrance of Allah, istighfar complements it, but if it was idle talk, istighfar serves as atonement for it. Similarly, it is fitting to conclude the fast of Ramadan with istighfar.”
لطائف المعارف
Completion with istighfar is the cause for forgiveness of deficiencies and faults in fasting, as well as for the preservation and increase of reward, because a person may become self-satisfied due to their righteous deeds in this month, leading to a decrease in their reward. Istighfar, however, brings understanding of the imperfection of one’s worship and the need for Allah’s acceptance of it.
Today is the 27th night of Ramadan, and although there is no guarantee that it is the Night of Decree, many who cannot observe all ten nights strive to at least observe this one, because many scholars have said there is a high probability it is. And there is goodness in that too, praise be to Allah.
I would like to give some advice.
To encourage. Much has been said about repentance already, but I believe repentance will be our best deed today.
Let me share a story told by Said al-Kamali from one of his sheikhs:
A righteous person made this supplication:
"O Allah, You say in the Quran: 'But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, Allah will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.' And I have repented after wrongdoing, so have mercy on me!
If I am not worthy of this, You say:
'He is Merciful to the believers' – and I am a believer, so have mercy on me!
If I am not worthy even of this, You say: 'My mercy encompasses all things' – and I too am a thing, so have mercy on me!
But if I am not worthy even of this, then what a great calamity it would be, and what calamity could be greater than not being embraced by the mercy that encompasses all things?!
Therefore, I say, as You have taught me to say in times of distress: 'Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.'You said: 'So give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy.' So have mercy on me!"
May Allah have mercy on us. Allah shows mercy both in the Night of Decree and beyond. All you need to do is leave sin and ask for forgiveness.
Do you know that you have a Lord who shows mercy and forgives the sins of His servants?
The root “عفو” means complete forgiveness and the erasure of sin from the Book of Deeds. Therefore, on the Night of Decree, we seek forgiveness using this word.
The verbs “غَفَرَ”, “عَفَا”, and “صَفَحَ” are also closely related in meaning. The first means “to cover” or “to forgive.” Forgiveness from Allah is called “gufran” and “maghfirah” because it frees a person from torment and suffering. The verb “عَفَا”, at its root, means “to turn towards something,” hence the expression “عَفَا الرِّيحُ الأَثرَ” meaning “the wind erased the traces.” In the sense of “forgiving,” it is used because forgiveness is like erasing sin.
Abu Hamid al-Ghazali believed that if “gufran” is covering sin, then “عفو” is its complete forgiveness, erasing it from the Book of Deeds. Some believe that “maghfirah” spares from punishment, while “عفو” spares from condemnation and humiliation.
It is reported that Aisha asked the Prophet: “O Messenger of Allah, if I know that Laylat al-Qadr has come, what should I say?” He said: “Say: ‘O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me.’” (At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Al-Hakim)
“"اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي"O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me.”
Allahumma, innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul’ ‘afwa, fa’fu ‘annī
«When everyone was loaded into the railway carriages,
panic set in and
uncertainty spread among the people.
Suddenly one old man shouted:
“People don't be afraid! We will not be taken to a place where Allah isn’t”
After that, everyone was silent.»
