Chechen warriors after 5 days defense in Kharkov direction when russian forces advanced on 10 May 2024.

Ukranian forces had intelligence that the enemy was planning to attack in Kharkiv direction, so they began to mine the area where the enemy might pass. Five days before the offensive began, the Chechen warriors started their mining activities. Noticing traces of a group on a path, they set up an ambush on the second day, eliminating two sappers who were preparing the route for the offensive.

A couple of days later, a prisoner was captured who had valuable information. He revealed when and where the attack would begin. The information was confirmed. The Chechen warriors, together with Ukrainian soldiers, met the enemy right at the border. As the enemy forces vastly outnumbered them, they had to retreat to a populated area where they held their defense for five days until the Ukrainian Armed Forces reinforced.

At dawn on the first day, the battle began. The enemy attacked with fury, trying to break through the defensive line, but the defenders held firm. They were outnumbered, but they knew the fate of everyone behind them depended on their resilience.

Each morning brought a new assault. On the first day, they repelled two attacks. With each passing day, the enemy increased their pressure. On the second and third days, they had to fend off three assaults. Each battle was grueling, and the defenders’ strength waned visibly, but their spirit remained unbroken.

On the fourth day, the enemy attacked twice again. They came so close it seemed they would break through. But the defenders fought with their last strength, not yielding an inch. Their tired, worn faces showed no fear. The fifth day brought the fiercest battle yet. Three assaults struck them one after another. Each time it seemed like the end, but they found the strength to continue.

As the sun set on the fifth day, silence fell. The enemy retreated, defeated once more. The defenders stood on the same line they had held for five days. They knew many battles lay ahead, but this day proved they could endure any trial.

The front remained in place, thanks to their courage and steadfastness.
