My Mormon boss hired me with a hidden goal to recruit me to his church. Now he’s withholding my pay, so I’m quitting and will get my revenge

To summarize everything: My current boss is a bishop at an LDS Mormon church and is trying to get his missionaries to recruit me to his church. At my interview he was acting friendly and eager to bring me on. He offered a position that very same day but I was too stupid to notice the red flags. It’s a salaried position that’s supposed to pay me $1650 every two weeks. But I only receive $1350. I also work 6 days 10hrs a week, but only get paid for 5 days 8hrs.

When I was reading over the employee handbook, I noticed it said in bold letter “don’t ever speak to another employee about pay or it will result in automatic termination.”

Long story short I get paid biweekly and my last paycheck was 5/17, which means the next one should be 5/31, but my boss is telling me that’s incorrect and I’ll be paid on 6/7. I told him I absolutely need to be paid the 31st so I can renew my lease and he said “this shouldn’t be happening and I don’t want to have to give you an early paycheck again.” “Since I’m doing you a favor I want you to work on Memorial Day”.

Today is the day after memorial so I brought my paycheck to his attention again and said I absolutely need it. He then said “I will talk to Gloria (the only office worker) to see what I can do”. I know he’s using me and is probably racist because before me he hired two Hispanic workers for a year before they quit and got fired. My most likely guess is he’s using minorities to make a quick buck while trying to convert them to Mormonism, and if they don’t submit he starts turning on them.

If I don’t receive my paycheck by 5/31, I’ll be evicted and will quit without notifying him. But to mess with him I want to take the GPS tracker out the work van and park it in a shopping center overnight so it gets towed and is a hassle for him to recover.

Is this illegal to do? Or is there a better way to mess with him since he’ll want me to return my work truck, with the equipment, and customer check?

Fired for having a medical cannabis card

As the title states: I was fired today for having a medical cannabis card. Iowa Republicans intentionally wrote a provision into the law that doesn't protect employees from being fired, even with a card. (Iowa Code 124e.21) I didn't use or possess my vape on work premises, I wasn't under the influence while on the clock, I didn't fail a drug test. I simply asked if there was a policy around the use of medical marijuana and a week later I was let go. The moral of the story: Whomever said honesty is the best policy was a know-nothing jackass. Don't mention your medical cannabis status to your employer and certainly don't ask for policy clarifications. My cannabis card is prescribed for a well documented disability but because marijuana is still federally illegal, there are no ADA protections, either, so I can't request reasonable accommodations and Iowa law (linked above) even says employers don't have to accommodate use.

So f*** me, I guess. I don't need money, right?

I hate everything today.
Iowa sucks.

Boss who fired me keeps looking at my LinkedIn and is trying to re-connect after I removed her

I had gotten hired at this job and was fired out of left field 3 months in for "performance". I had a 30-day review and a 60-day review as well as bi-weekly check ins, and never once did my boss express any concern about my performance. She kept telling me things were going great, then I went in for my 90-day review, and she fired me. When I asked for more information as to why, she insinuated that I had no critical thinking skills. But then offered to give me a good reference lol? (does that even make sense)

It was horrible. I've never been fired before, and what she said really hurt. I cried and left. They had 0 training for this role, she would just tell me to do things, but never explain how/why and she worked from home 99% of the time. She would yell at me and have a horrible attitude any time I had any questions. She was terrible to work with. They hired me and another person on the same day, and they and I had barely any work to do. I had wondered if that was the real reason they let me go.

Anyways - 1 week after firing me, I saw she viewed my LinkedIn profile. I decided to remove her, she gives me anxiety, and she 'likes' SO much stuff, I was constantly seeing her name and it was a constant reminder of being fired, which was a humiliating and shameful experience for me. Well now, a week later, she viewed my profile again last night and tried reconnecting. Why?!?? Just leave people alone, especially if you've fired them with 0 warning or opportunity to change and do better. I don't owe you anything and am allowed to keep boundaries that feel healthy for me!

Edit: I’ve already blocked her prior to posting this. I’m just venting and want to know why she would attempt to reconnect when I clearly don’t want to be associated with her.

My old work grilled people on why we wouldn't do over time. So we told them.

They were desperate for people to do it, and went around the office with a sheet, they asked everyone to fill it out with what they were doing that was more important. I can't remember everything but here are some examples:

I just left my job because my manager threatened to call 911 if i was too sick to continue to work.

Until today, I was working a small, part-time retail job, making minimum wage while I am going back to school. I enjoyed the job, but the manager is insane.

I am on some medications that have been making me very sick for the last two weeks. Last Wednesday, I called out about 1.5 hours before my shift because I started vomiting. My manager proceeded to huff and puff about how now the store won't open on time and we can't have that. The man even HEARD me vomit on the phone and still had the nerve to ask, "Can you still make it in?"

Today, I got to work, opened the store, and started to feel so sick. I was able to close the store and put a sign up for customers to know we are closed and ran to the back to vomit. I called my manager to tell him that I need to go home. This man proceeded to ask if I can hold out until someone gets there in 3 hours.... I tell him I can't even stand up without getting nauseous and don't really feel like vomiting on someone because when the vomit comes over me, it's instant. He then tells me, "Well, if you are too sick to keep working, maybe I should call emergency services to come. Sounds like you are having a medical emergency." in the most condescending tone ever.

Which I tell him that it's not a medical emergency, it's a reaction to my medication. And then he says, "Well, if it's not a medical emergency then I don't understand how you can't stick it out. Either we can call 911 or you can wait. We cannot have the store closed during the day." What the hell is an EMT going to do? Work my shift for me? I don't even understand the logic? He was clearly just trying to guilt me into saying it's not that bad and just staying at work. Because I guess to him if it's not life or death, I can just stick it out.

I'm not going to be guilted or threatened into working while vomiting. This is a minimum wage job. He hung up on me after saying he needs to call our district manager, so I made sure all the doors were locked, wrote "I quit" on a sticky note that I put on my work keys, and left it on his desk. Set the alarm and left out the auto-locking door. This man has been truly one of the worst managers I have ever worked for. Part of me wanted to tell him to call 911 so I can get him in trouble for abusing emergency services.
