Imām Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

"Some of the Salaf said:

'Were it not for the trials in this world, we would be arriving bankrupt on the Day of Judgement.' ”

Sufyān Ath-Thawrī رحمه الله stated:

“Three matters are from patience:

Do not speak about your pain.

Do not speak about your calamity.

Do not praise yourself.”

عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:

"إِنَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ أَيَّامِكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِيهِ خُلِقَ آدَمُ وَفِيهِ قُبِضَ وَفِيهِ النَّفْخَةُ وَفِيهِ الصَّعْقَةُ فَأَكْثِرُوا عَلَيَّ مِنْ الصَّلَاةِ فِيهِ فَإِنَّ صَلَاتَكُمْ مَعْرُوضَةٌ عَلَيَّ"

Aws ibn Aws reported:

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:

“Verily, the best of your days is Friday. Ādam was created on it, on it he died, on it the trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made. Thus, send blessings upon me often, for your blessings are presented to me.”

Shaykh Al-Islām Ibn Taymīyyah رحمه الله said:

“The remembrance of Allāh for the heart is like water for the fish, what happens to the fish when it is taken out of water?”

Hudhayfah رضي الله عنه was asked:

“Which trial is the worst?”

He said:

“That your heart is presented with good and evil while you do not know which one of the two to embark on"

Shaykh Al-Islām Ibn Taymīyyah رحمه الله:

"No one should speak without knowledge. Rather, one must beware of those who speak about religious matters without understanding and those who address intellectual matters without insight. Some people, claiming to support religion with their deficient intellects and flawed reasoning, end up doing more harm; their actions have given atheists, the enemies of religion, a reason to criticize. Thus, they neither supported Islām nor defeated its enemies."

Ḥasan al-Baṣrī رحمه الله said:

"The most clever amongst you is the one who remembers the day of resurrection & the judgement."

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"If anyone behaves insolently or walks with an arrogance, he will meet Allāh Almighty covered with His anger."

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Drink patience, for if it kills you, you'd die a martyr, and if it spares you, it'll leave you strong.”

Shaykh Al-Islām Ibn Taymīyyah رحمه الله said:

‎“The worst type of generosity is being generous in gifting your good deeds to others due to backbiting, tale-carrying, lying, swearing and insulting.”
