(2/2) On his back were three puffy, shiny, grinning pooltoys, just barely holding distinct shapes of their respective mammal origins. From afar, I could have sworn that their expressions were one of embarrassed confusion, and that their limbs were wriggling to break free from the thin rope which the fox used to haul them up bareback. Surely they were just bouncing about from the fox's jaunty walk, I thought. At that moment, the full reality of our visit became clear as both a warning, and a promise.
