Greetings from Chalmers University of Technology!I would like to inform all of you (our wonderful followers and group members) that a new round of application for Master's studies at Chalmers is going to open on the 18th of October.
Just like last year, we will try to keep you updated here about the process. (However, I would like to warn/inform you that there are plans to possibly shut down our Telegram channel & group and move completely to the Chalmers Unibuddy Platform. This is in order to stream line our communications and ensure the best quality experience for you.)Regardless, until that may happen, we will do our best to keep you updated here.
See you on today's webinar. If you have not already registered, you can do so by visiting our website and navigating to the page for Events for Prospective Master's Students.

For you who are already studying at Chalmers:1. If you are already studying at Chalmers, I recommend you to leave the channel and group because the information shared here will not be useful for you anymore.
2. If you are already studying at Chalmers and wish to help other students, please send me an email and request to become a Unibuddy.
Questions about delaying your entry into Sweden@all
Neither your programme director nor the admissions office will be able to help you. However, you may send an email to your programme director or better still the examiners of each of your first study period courses only to inform them that you are facing difficulties regarding travel. Please do not ask them for any help. They will most probably not be able to help you.
In general, what is important is to decide whether you are comfortable with arriving late from the perspective of how much you will be able to play catchup with lessons that may not be presented online.
Remember that Chalmers is aiming to go back to on campus classes as much as possible while still maintaining the possibility to revert to online classes if/when necessary. This mean that a hybrid model of class delivery is still in place. This also means that each course has the freedom to choose the model of class delivery.
All of this is of course only valid if you have already completed online registration. Remember that the deadline for registration is 30 August. The deadline for requesting a reimbursement of your tuition fees is also the 30th of August.
I am really sorry about the situation you are in. It is a situation that others also seem to be in. The rapidly changing scenario is not conducive to one concrete blanket answer because such an answer becomes obsolete in a matter of days or weeks.
I hope you understand that we are not unsympathetic to your (everyone's) situation. It is just that we are also in the same situation and have very little control over what is happening.
I wish you all the best.
Student Registration vs Course Registration
Student Registration
All admitted students who intend to start studying at Chalmers must register themselves in order to be able to start studying at Chalmers. This means that being admitted or having paid fees alone is not enough. In 2021, the registration process is an online process and is open between 9 August and 30 August.
Course Registration
Course Registration is something that is done by students at Chalmers in order to register which courses they wish to study during the upcoming study period (remember that Chalmers follows a study period system which is different from the typical semester system). This is also an online process and is typically done in advance of the upcoming study period.
More details
The Student Registration process is done only once; whereas the course registration is done several time over the course of the academic year.
Finally, the Student Registration process includes the first Course Registration process as well.
In most cases, the courses included in the first and second study period of each programme are compulsory courses and therefore they are "automatically" (i.e., you will make choices i your process which automatically enable those courses to be) registered to you as part of your Student Registration process.
Conclusion
Just start your process and you will see what is and isn't possible and if you have questions, the admissions team is always on hand to help.

Since we cannot help you at the moment, please feel free to contact the following addresses depending on your need. We will reach out to you after we come back from our vacations in August.
Accommodation
Pinning message by popular request:
In June one of the following two things will happen.
Situation 1: You receive an email directly from Chalmers Studentbostäder. It will say
You have been allocated an apartment
Here is the contract
Sign it. (this is usually for scholarship students)
In this case, you do not have a choice of apartment. You simply accept the apartment that has been given to you or you decline it. If you decline it, you have lost the guarantee and you need to find an apartment on your own.
Situation 2: You receive an email from Chalmers University of Technology with information about how to apply for SGS. It will say,
This is how you apply for an apartment with SGS
Here is the Chalmers International Student (CIS) code you should use
Go create an account on SGS and follow the instructions
Then choose an apartment. (this is usually for non-scholarship students)
In this case, you can choose which apartment you want among the ones that are available. If you take the opportunity to choose an apartment and they offer it to you, you must accept it. If you change your mind and decline it, you lose the guarantee and you need to find another apartment on your own.
The rules here are simple.
1. If you are given an apartment, it will be by Chalmers Studentbostäder.
2. If you have to choose an apartment, it will be with SGS.
3. Since you will receive only one email email, it will already pre-determine what you need to do.
What can you do now?
1. You can contact SGS and Chalmers Studentbostäder to find out which apartment locations will be available for you as a Chalmers International Master's Student.
2. You can go to the website of SGS and Chalmers Studentbostäder and check those locations to see, what those apartments look like, what is included inside those apartments, how big they are, what is the rent, so on and so forth.
3. You can use this information to decide which places you like the most.
4. Then in June, when you get the email, use the information you have collected along with the information you have been given in the email to decide and take the relevant action.
I hope this makes things easier and clearer for you. In any case, do not take my word for it, and instead always confirm with the relevant housing company and the Chalmers Website.
Note 1: Chalmers is only blocking apartments with the 2 companies. This is what we call Guarantee. So if you have any questions about the Guarantee you can contact [email protected].
Note 2: However, we are not the providers of the apartment or the apartment application process. For questions about the process, dates, and all other such details, please contact the housing companies when it comes to information about the apartment itself.
