NZ Police are in crisis.

I've had a few very concerning conversations with a number of current and recently departed NZ Police colleagues, and they have shared with me the following:

1. The recent insulting pay offer was the last straw.

2. More than 45 experienced Police have left in Northland alone in the last 12 months. That’s a significant issue.

3. Australian Police recruiters are run off their feet because our frontline is paid better over the ditch.

4. The standards have dropped dramatically, with new recruits coming out of Police College that would never have made it in days gone by. Examples are recruits who are basically incompetent in handling firearms, or can't swim, or struggle to meet the physical test - let alone the academic requirements.

Policing, when done properly, can be challenging, dangerous, and incredibly stressful.

In my 14 years of service in the Police, I can recall several incidents where I really thought I was going to meet my maker.

Policing is not a career path for the faint-hearted - it is a vocation and one that is driven by service to our community and our country. Keeping communities safe starts with law and order - a properly resourced frontline in order to do that.

Being “tough on crime” starts with paying our Police properly, so that we don’t lose them to our Aussie neighbours that clearly value their frontline more, and therefore remunerates them appropriately.

I hate the shambles that Waitangi Day, and historical events have become over the last few decades. It's impossible to be proud of being Maori, or White when the likes of Joe Trinder (who is mixed-race), go about glorifying division.

ANZAC is routinely disrespected by woke Antifa-types like him. Any man or women who defends this country is a hero to me.

Antifa-types like Joe Trinder respect nothing, he is a rudderless dinghy on a sea of soy, and he didn't bring a life jacket.

The NZ I am proud of decries divisionism and implores the value of truth, ethics, accountability and love. The NZ we all love doesn't want to rate races, and ignore integrity, it wants to confront corruption, restore respect, and finalize freedom.
