Well one must remember that most stereotypes have some foundation of original truth in them with the exception of the blondes being stupid one. That one was created by certain groups to denigrate blond folk. My quibble with the percentages is that europeans/nordic folk have never been more than at best 25% of the entire world population. What makes it appear larger is from several things, over exageration of the global populations per groups, that most exploration and colonies were founded across the earth by these same folks which gave the aboriginal folks a sense that there must be a lot of these white folks to visit all these areas etc.

Even in the long gone past the concept of having a lot of children was a relatively recent thing from around the time the black death came to an end. The difference in how ones race overall sees the value of their offspring plays a large role as well but one needs to look at overall living conditions and level or ability to stave off nature. When one lives in an environment where the quality of life is low, for whatever the underlying reasons maybe, they tend to have more children but the quality of raising them or looking after them is much lower as well. This is not the case with higher standard of living cultures who tend to focus on the individual child and the quality of upbringing that comes with it so there is a tendency to keep the numbers lower though 7 or 8 children still, like I said after the black plague, was still considered a good number that wouldn't degenerate the quality. There is of course much more that goes into all of this but this is just a broad brush picture of it all.

What maybe of interest is reviewing the different aspects of the pre-christian era procreations compared to the lesser amount that came after christianity and its apparent drive to claim sex for anything other than children was a sin. But, that would be a highly debatable statement if only viewed from todays standard of christianity and not taking into account the many changes that came with so called "modern" life.
