The first bar chart describes the percentages of men and women who studied a foreign language while the second chart shows the popularity of three different languages. Both charts cover the 1984 and 2007.

Overall, it is clear that both males and females who learnt a foreign language declined over the given time. French and German language learners dwindled over the give time period whereas Spanish language, which showed a rise in the number of learners, was an exception in this chart.

According to the first chart, in 1984 the percentage of girls who were engaged in language acquisition was almost two times high compared with boys' figure, which were 50 and 30 percent respectively. In 2007, both figures dropped by 8 percent.

As for the top three popular languages studied by students, French was studied by 50 percent students in the initial year, which reduced more than two times in 2007. The number of German language learners displayed the same trend albeit to a smaller percentage. However, the number of Spanish language learners increased from 4 to 10 percent between these two periods.

#difficulties in IELTS

READING - This is probably the hardest part for some students who find reading passages difficult to understand, and when they start reading passages, they find words unfamiliar and confusing. As a result, they end up getting low scores from this section.

I got 9 from the reading section several times, and I think there are some tactics to improve your reading skills.

  1. Always engage in reading different types of academic articles. Because the majority of reading passages are taken from such articles. By reading them, you will prepare yourself for this type of difficult passages.

  2. Always learn new vocabulary as this habit helps you to get a better understanding of the passage you are reading.

doing reading practice tests won't help you unless you improve your reading skills.

If you have a problem with the reading section, write DIFFICULT in the comment section.

Scientists and technology experts seem to be valued more by modern society than artists and musicians.

To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

In contemporary society, the role of scientists and experts is often regarded as more prestigious than that of artists. While I acknowledge this perspective, I firmly believe that musicians and artists also play a crucial role in our lives.

On the one hand, individuals working in scientific and technological fields hold elevated status for several reasons. Firstly, scientists and technology experts contribute to global progress by innovating and creating valuable advancements. Consider medical experts, for example; they conduct research, develop vaccines, and formulate drugs through experiments to combat diseases. Technology experts, on the other hand, invent new technologies that streamline various professions, making work more efficient. Without the invention of X-rays by technology experts, medical professionals would be unable to analyze the internal injuries of patients.

On the other hand, those in the art and music industry also contribute significantly to society. Artists, including film producers, painters, and musicians, contribute to the preservation of a nation’s cultural heritage. Their creations, such as films, paintings, and songs, serve as a window into a country’s traditions and beliefs. Reflecting on history, one can identify the way of life and customs of ancient civilizations through their artistic works; the Roman Empire stands out as a prime example examined through its artistic masterpieces.

In conclusion, while experts in technology and scientists hold great significance in our contemporary world due to their innovations, individuals in the arts and music industry also play an important role in preserving cultural traditions. Both contribute uniquely to the enrichment of our lives and the understanding of our collective heritage.
