Braile Notetaker Training Aims to Empower Students with Visual Disabilities

The commencement of a Braille Note Taker Training, which is part of the Digital Competency Enhancement Project for Blind University Students, was officially announced today in the presence of Addis Ababa University officials.

The project aims to create a disability inclusive educational environment at the university through the provision of assistive technologies.

Dr. Yirgashewa Bekele, Director of the Special Needs Support Center at Addis Ababa University, revealed that thirty braille note taker devices, valued at over five thousand dollars each, have been donated to the university as part of a memorandum of understanding earlier signed with South Korea’s SILOAM International Cooperation Agency .

The director also mentioned that special needs support teachers and students are being trained in the use of these devices.

Dr Yirgashewa indicated that the purpose of the event was to declare the commencement of the training program, signalling the creation of a conducive academic environment for visually impaired university students through the Digital Skills Enhancement Project, enabling them to independently utilize the technology.

For his part, Dong-ic Choi, Executive Director at SILOAM FOUNDATION FOR THE BLIND said, “At its essence, a Braille notetaker is designed to enable individuals with visual impairments to effortlessly read and write notes as well as other written materials, adding ” the device’s true value lies in its ability to facilitate these tasks with ease and efficiency.”

AAU Launches Capacity Building, Training in Satellite Navigation Technology

A  workshop was hosted at Sheraton Hotel on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS)  that addressed  technologies, organizations and real applications that support, innovate upon and use GNSS for position, navigation and timing.
The workshop, whose participants included  senior officials representing a wide range of organizations ,  was meant to expand GNSS reach and enhance its utility across sectors in Ethiopia.
During the event, Dr. Elias Lewi, Director of Addis Ababa University’s Institute of Geophysics, Space Science and Astronomy, highlighted that GNSS is a satellite network system that offers worldwide positioning, navigation, and timing services, enabling users to pinpoint their exact location, speed, and time anywhere on the globe.
The Director mentioned that with their  extensive applications across various sectors, GNSS systems have become indispensable tools for transportation, surveying, timing synchronization, emergency management, agriculture, and environmental monitoring,
“As technology progresses, GNSS systems are anticipated to develop even more, providing improved precision, reliability, and novel applications for the betterment of society”,  the Director further said.
In developing countries in particular, GNSS applications offer cost-effective solutions that make it possible to foster economic and social development without neglecting the need to preserve the environment, thus promoting sustainable development,  it was learned.
Globally GNSS technologies  have found avid applications in aviation, land and sea transportation, mapping and surveying,  natural resources management, and disaster warning , immensely contributing  to the achievement of sustainable development.

የንግድ ቤቶች ከራይ የጨረታ ሰነድ መሸጥ ጀምረናል ።

በአዲስ አበባ ዮኒቨርሲቲ ውስጥ የሚገኙ የንግድ ቤቶች የጨረታ ሰነድ ለመግዛት ከዚህ በታች በተገለፀው አድራሻ የማይመለስ 300.00 (ሶስት መቶ ብር) በኢትዮጵያ ንግድ ባንክ ሂሳብ ቁጥር 1000087392067 ገቢ በማድረግ መውሰድ ይችላሉ፡፡

1. ከዚህ የጨረታ ሰነድ ጋር የታደሰ ንግድ ፈቃድ ፣ የተጨማሪ እሴት ታክስ (vat) ሰርተፍኬት እና ቲን ሰርተፍኬት መያያዝ አለበት

2. በአንድ ንግድ ፈቃድ መጫረት የሚቻለው ለአንድ ክፍል ብቻ ነው፡፡

3. የጨረታ አሸናፊዎች የኪራይ ውል መዋዋል የሚችሉት ለጨረታ ባስገቡት የንግድ ፈቃድ ስም ብቻ ነው፡፡

4. በጨረታ ያሸነፉበትን ክፍል በምንም ዓይነት ለሌላ ወገን ስም ማዞርም ሆነ ተከራይቶ ማከራየት የማይቻል ሲሆን ይህንን ለማድረግ የሚሞክሩ ተጫራቾች ከጨረታ ውጪ እንደሚሆኑ እና የኪራይ ውሉ እንደሚሰረዝ ለማሳሰብ እንወዳለን፡፡

5. ቤዝመንት ላይ የሚገኙ ቦታዎች መከራዩት የሚችሉት ለወንዶችም ለሴቶችም ለጸጉር ቤት፣ለጽህፈት መሳሪያዎች መሸጫ፣ ለኤሌክትሮኒክስ እቃዎች መሸጫ፣ለካፌና ሪስቶራንት አገልግሎት፣ለልብስ ቤት መሸጫ እና ለቡና እና ሻይ መሸጫ ይሆናል፡፡

6. በዋናው ግቢ የፎረም ህንጻ የሚገኙ ግራውንድ ፍሎር ቦታዎች ለባንኮች እና ለፋርማሲ አገልግሎት የሚውሉ ሲሆን ይህን ቦታ መጨረት የሚችሉት በዚህ ዘርፍ የተሰማሩ ተቋማት ብቻ መሆን አለባቸው፡፡

7. ፍላጎት ያላቸው ተጫራቾች የተዘጋጀውን የጨረታ ሰነድ ለመግዛት ከዚህ በታች በተላፀው አድራሻ የማይመለስ 300.00 (ሶስት መቶ ብር) በኢትዮጵያ ንግድ ባንክ ሂሳብ ቁጥር 1000087392067 ገቢ በማድረግ መውሰድ ይችላሉ፡፡

8. ተጫራቾች በጨረታው ለመሳተፍ የጨረታ ማስከበሪያ መጠን ብር 10,000.00 (አስር ሺ ብር) በሲፒኦ ወይም በሁኔታ ላይ ያልተመሰረተ የባንክ ዋስትና አያይዘው ማቅረብ አለባቸው፡፡

9. ይህ የጨረታ መጋበዣ ሰነድ የሚያካትታቸው ዋና የሚከራዩ ቦታዎች ዝርዝር እና የሚከራይ ቦታውን የሚያሳይ ዲዛይን ይሆናል፡፡

10. ይህ የኪራይ አገልግሎት ጨረታ ታሳቢ የሚያደርገው በአገር ውስጥ ለሚፈፀም የአገልግሎት ግዥ (የምክር አገልግሎት አይጨምርም) የሚውል መደበኛ የጨረታ ሰነድ ይሆናል፡፡

11. ውድድሩ የሚሆነው በእያንዳንዱ የስራ ዘርፍ ነው የሚሆነው፡፡

12. ዩኒቨርሲቲው የአልኮል መጠጦች ፣ ሲጋራ፣ ጫትና የመሳሰሉ ስራዎችን ለሚሰሩ ተጫራቾች የማያከራይ መሆኑን እናሳውቃለን፡፡

13. ዩኒቨርሲቲው የተሻለ አማራጭ ካገኘ ጨረታውን በሙሉም ሆነ በከፊል የመሰረዝ መብቱ የተጠበቀ ነው፡፡
