Aspirant Doubt: Hello Sir this year I couldn't clear but I want to give next year attempt with full prep and I have the query regarding this that abhi mujhe mains ki prep m rhna chiye for 6 month or prelims focused rehna chiye NXT year.

My reply:
I can understand this phase.
I would highly recommend you to prepare for mains on war scale. Prepare as if you would be giving actual mains in this September.
Give full tests, learn , revise.. finish your optional thoroughly with tests.

Prelims ki taiyari to 3 mahine mein ho jati h. Next year feb se start karna wo. Till then prepare as if you were to write mains.

Good luck everyone. This is for all those who are facing uncertainty after prelims faliure.

Those who are writing mains may refer these notes for case studies.. They were prepared by Pradeep Barnwal Sir (2022 IRS OFFICER) during his preparation days.. He got 124 in GS 4.. He has shared this with many in other group.. so, I thought of sharing this with you all if it can help you in anyway.

In last few pages, he has made few theme based notes for case study, you can add and update this after attempting test series.. if you can cover 15-20 themes, I think you won’t have to think much in actual exam and can make drawings etc easily.

COACHING FOR SOCIO

I was enrolled in many ..
For syllabus - study Iq -- attempted only few lectures .. REST got wasted.
For beginners its good and cheap. Divakar sir's enthusiasm will remove all fears of socio..

For current - sleepy socio current affairs - saw those lecture for value addition to my material . Sleepy classes has putup full syllabus playlist for free on YouTube. You can refer to them as well. I did it extensively for covering Paper 2.

For daily answer writing - took IAS GURUKUL'S daily answer series.-- could write only 15-20 answers out of a package of 45days.. But it was helpful in breaking the inertia and getting into answer writing..
If you are disciplined enough and can write answers you may SKIP it.

For full tests- VISION IAS socio tests. ( Copy evaluation is not as good.. but it gets you in habbit of writing tests for 6 hours P1+P2) . Moreover the sample solution and lectures are very good.

3. For tough topics like some thinkers and Research Methodology refer utube videos of Study Iq, Sleepy Classes, any other u feel good

Paper 2

Shoukd take 15 days to cover paper 2

Do 2 -3eadings of this as per your absorbing ability.. Then read nitin Sangwan's book for paper 2 and do add on in sleepy's notes itself

CURRENT AFFAIRS

SOURCES
1. The Hindu newspaper ?️
2. Monthly magzine ( Drishti IAS is making very good compilation vis-a-vis Vision)
3. YouTube - Sleepy classes 2 minute series
4. Mock Tests of Prelims and Mains will cover up the current which you missed from above 3 sources.

  1. YOJNA magzine - helps a lot in mains answers. CSAT ke passages bhi kabhi kabhi isi mein se lie jaate h.

Current affairs has deep connection with Static Part. Both are to be done daily.

Check this friends. Front page of The Hindu Delhi edition (5may 2024) featured a photograph from dried up lake. This will help you in analysing newspapers in a better way.

Linking news, PYQ, static part( do read geography of peninsular rivers- godavri and Krishna) etc will help in question solving and guess work in prelims.

Think like you are setting the question paper and how would you trick new candidates in marking wrong answers.

Happy learning.
