Holocaust Remembrance Day isn’t just about mourning the people who were killed in the Holocaust, but their descendants who they should be with today.
That’s the difference between murder and genocide: instead of killing an individual, it kills a generation.
Breaking: Lior Rudaeff, 61-year-old ambulance driver and volunteer medic who was presumed to be held hostage alive was slaughtered by Hamas and his body held likely in Rafah.
On October 7th, Rudaeff went out to join help victims at kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, and later sent a message that he had been hurt.
He sent his love to his wife, Yaffa, and his four children, and since then, all communication was lost.
“He’s my hero uncle,” said his niece, Yael.
May his memory be a blessing and may his body be returned to his family from Hamas, to be buried with some dignity ?
The whole world should be screaming that hostage taking is not a legitimate form of protest.
Instead they scream that Israel is not a legitimate state.
Is it any wonder why Hamas is rejecting each and every hostage/ceasefire deal?
So many people don’t recognize how prevalent hatred of Jews is today. Because it’s not aimed at you.
Jews see it because we experience it. Believe us.
You should not have to see a body count to realize antisemitism is real. And it kills.
Aviad Halevi, 28, was murdered by Hamas at the Nova festival on October 7th.
Halevi is survived by his parents, Dasi and Yehuda, his brothers Nadav and Itamar, and his stepfather Nisim.
He was killed alongside his friends Zur Saidi and Omri Ram, who he traveled to the festival with when terrorists opened fire on the rave. The three of them had been best friends since the age of 14.
At 8 in the morning, Avid called his family and said "I've been shot, I can't walk,” and then shared his location with his family on WhatsApp. They monitored him, waiting for help, but the last time they heard him was at 10 o’clock when he told them "They [the terrorists] kill everyone here," and his phone battery died.
On the same day, his family friend and IDF veteran, Shai Shalom, rescued all three bodies so they could be swiftly buried.
Aviad is remembered for his guitar skills, his love of singing and songwriting, and how he could always make people laugh. In a memorial post, one of Avid’s friends wrote, “You were always radical in the best sense of the word. Send us some of that down here. We need it now.”
May Avid’s memory be forever a blessing.
Romi Gonen was last heard from at 10:58 on Saturday morning, October 7, as she and her friends tried to escape the Hamas assault on the Supernova music rave in the desert.
Romi had been on the phone with her mother, Meirav Gonen, all morning, since the militants first at 6:30 a.m.
She was in a car with friends when she told her mother at 10:15 that they had been shot and she was bleeding.
“They shot me, Mom and I’m bleeding,” Romi told her mother. “Everyone in the car is bleeding.”
The car was later found empty, and Romi’s phone was identified as being located in Gaza.
Romi's kindness, joy, and strength are felt by everyone around her.
She has been held hostage in Gaza under unimaginable conditions for 156 days.
Bring her home now!
At this point, the Kerem Shalom and Nitzana entrances to Gaza from Israel have been used to inspect and transfer aid.
As of Tuesday, a new transfer point was opened at the “96th gate” in the security fence.
60 percent of that aid is being stolen by Hamas.
Yet too many can’t seem to hold Hamas accountable, even when they are the cause of this war and share responsibility for the humanitarian crisis.
Why is that?
Describing his rescue from Gaza by IDF operatives, Louis Har, 70, recounts that “It’s a matter of seconds. Suddenly, there was an explosion. The first thought was that the building was being bombed by the Israel Defense Forces. I rolled off the mattress where I was sleeping in the direction of the terrorists.”
Louis paints a picture nonstop shooting in every direction the likes of which he he had not seen “even in movies.”
“Suddenly they yelled: ‘Louis, over here!’ Someone grabbed my leg and said ‘IDF! IDF! We came to take you home.’” Louis were lead through the battle, Israeli security forces protecting them with their bodies before being transferred to a military helicopter.
A month later, Louise states that the hardest moment for him since being back was when he meeting a young man who told him that his cousin was part of the rescue operation that brought Louis home.
“I told him to tell him…but he told me he was killed the previous week,” he said breaking down in tears. “It broke me completely. I don’t know who he was, but just the thought of it was difficult.”
