As the media portal LifeSiteNews reports , the WEF is promoting the “Known Traveler Digital Identity” (KTDI) digital ID system in this regard . This global traveler digital identity card will enable WEF consortium partners to “access verifiable information about travelers' identity data to assess their credibility, optimize passenger processing and mitigate risk,” writes the World Economic Forum on its website.

It also announces that the Canadian and Dutch governments have made themselves available as “trial partners” for this digital ID system. In these countries, several airports will serve as “test grounds”. The project, which is based on “progress in biometrics”, was launched already in 2018 and started in 2019.

“As the first global collaboration of its kind, KTDI enables safer and more seamless travel, benefiting both travelers and the travel industry.”

In addition to the Dutch and Canadian governments , the "trial partners" of the program are the airlines Air Canada and Royal Dutch Airlines, as well as Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands and Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada.

According to the program, KTDI is “based on a decentralized digital identity that leverages cryptography, distributed ledger technology and emerging international standards to enable an individual to self-manage trusted and verified identity attributes.” The "attestations" of such attributes are "added to the traveler's KTDI profile whenever a trusted, public or private entity verifies a claim about the person".
