One Year with Ajay: A Tribute to an Incredible Teacher and Mentor

Ajay, you are one of the best teachers I have ever had. Though I only spent a year learning from you, I still cherish every single moment. Your commitment to your students is profound, and your passion for teaching is truly inspiring. You encourage others to follow their curiosity and are always enthusiastic, motivated, and supportive in guiding students toward success.

You taught me Math, Theory of Knowledge, and countless life lessons. Beyond academics, we shared so many unforgettable experiences—visiting refugees, cooking meals (despite my fair share of burnt dishes!), watching movies, playing football and ping pong, riding bicycles, and much more. I’ll never forget that last ping pong game where you beat me, Ajay—even though I thought I was the pro!

One special memory was our bike ride to Maastricht University for graduation on Go- Sustainable Course. I wasn’t the best cyclist, but you guided me patiently every step of the way. And who can forget our farewell dinner for Eva, our Head of Residential Monitor, and for our floor senior boys? I was in charge of roasting chicken wings and one of the wings got burned (oops!), but we laughed it off, like always.

Ajay doesn’t just teach—he gives his heart to his students. He inspires, motivates, and helps shape us into strong, capable individuals. His efforts might sometimes go unnoticed, but they will shine brightly for years to come.

What sets you apart is your willingness to give your students not just your time, knowledge, and skills but also your whole heart, filled with kindness and love. You make sure your students are ready to work alongside you, and once they are, you pour all your energy into helping them succeed.

I’ll never forget when we traveled to Ethiopia together. I showed you my favorite places, shared Injera with you, introduced you to my mom, family, and friends, and even took you to my old school. Those moments mean so much to me.

To sum it up, you are an outstanding educator who shapes students into resilient and capable individuals. Though many of your efforts go unnoticed, they will soon shine brightly, and I’m confident you will achieve even greater success.
