Continuing my tour of different districts — visited Tanjong Pagar to celebrate the traditional Qixi Festival (七夕节) at Keong Saik Street. Met Anne Lim, the great-granddaughter of Tan Keong Saik; representatives from Chinese clans and dialect groups.

In true Singaporean spirit, we celebrate the festivities as one people. It was good to see residents of all backgrounds coming together. Let's continue to celebrate our diverse cultures and nurture our vibrant community spirit!

I had a good meeting with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken today.

Our bilateral relationship is in excellent shape. We have substantial ties across many areas, from the economy to defence and security. For example, the US is the largest investor in Singapore, with close to 6000 US firms based here, creating many jobs for Singaporeans.

We are expanding our cooperation to new areas, including on critical emerging technologies like AI, as well as civilian nuclear energy (so that we can keep track of new technologies and better assess the future energy possibilities for Singapore).

The US (and Secretary Blinken himself) has to deal with many preoccupations around the world. We are glad they remained committed to engaging Southeast Asia. I look forward to strengthening the partnership with the US, both bilaterally and with ASEAN.

Had a good conversation with the European Council President Charles Michel today. We exchanged views on regional and global developments, and the growing strength of the EU-Singapore partnership. In particular, both sides have just concluded negotiations on the EU-Singapore Digital Trade Agreement. This is the first digital trade agreement between the EU and an ASEAN country, and can pave the way for closer links between our two regions.

Look forward to deepening our ties further with the EU!

Today, we launched "The Lion's Roar", the second volume of Mr S Rajaratnam’s biography. The two volumes of his biography give us a detailed account of his legacy and a vivid sense of the man, and what it was like in our early years of nation building.

It’s timely that we’re launching a few weeks before National Day. Let’s honour his legacy by remembering his words - that a nation creates its own future, any time and all the time; let’s do our part to move closer to one united people, regardless of race, language or religion.

Met the President of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA) Dennis Francis earlier this morning.

The PGA plays a key role in fostering cooperation on global priorities like sustainable development. We discussed how Singapore and the UN can work together to support developing countries and the Sustainable Development Goals. I reiterated Singapore's commitment to supporting the UN and the rules-based multilateral system, which matters greatly to small states like Singapore.
