In the year of Confederation, 1867, Alexander Muir wrote the patriotic ballad "The Maple Leaf Forever". A few of the lines is as follows:

Here may it wave, our boast, our pride
And, joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine
The Maple Leaf forever!The thistle, shamrock, and rose are flowers and national symbols representing Scotland, Ireland, and England, respectively. Sometimes, the line begins with "Lily", a flower that represents our Quebecois kin and their French ancestry.

We consider these lines to be symbolic of European unity in Canada. Therefore, our new logo features a thistle, shamrock, and rose, to represent the concept of European unity in Canada, a concept that honours the various founding stocks of Canada, but also extends beyond the founding stocks to include all of our people.

A Northside business owner is shocked and disgusted by antisemitic flyers a woman dropped off at his business Saturday morning. He said the woman dropped off several of these flyers in the area.
