The Practice of Eugenic Semen Retention and Militant Celibacy Within the Ancient Indo-Steppe Cultures

Gaining riches through warfare, the vanquishing of enemies, securing a wife, and creating children to immortalize your bloodline. All were seen to revolve around the sacred substance of semen, resulting in the creation of a strict practice of semen retention to guard it.

Children were also seen as a way to continue the conquering of an enemy started by the father, with rituals listed for the blessings of the Gods to spread an Aryans seed “forth beyond another’s seed” and for many “troops of children” (Hymn XXX, Indra).

As domestication of the Indo-Aryans took place, this act of semen retention was elaborated in a more complex fashion tailored for a societal setting, within the Mahābhārata, the Upaniṣhads, and the Smṛtis.

Brahmins and Kshatriyas took vows of Brahmacharya (celibacy) at a young age, and practitioners were never to have promiscuous sex with “a maiden, nor a harlot”. And as a result, the man would cultivate “fierce strength like real tigers”, and would exhibit “blazing, mental vigour” (Mbh 5.4.170).

A man “who has congress with only his wedded wife and only at her season (ovulation), is said to be observant of the vow of Brahmacharya (Mbh 13.1.93).

As is evident, across all steppe derived societies a primordial tradition had been preserved. Whereby the semen of a man was a sacred substance that was to be preserved and safeguarded. The key to cultivating esoteric knowledge and physical power. Sacrificed only for the creation of children with one’s wife, to bring forth future warriors for the tribe, and to immortalize one’s ancestral bloodline.
