Did you know that 90% of all weapons in the Balkans are in civilian hands? In this region, there are 9 times more weapons per capita than in the military and police combined. The leaders in the number of weapons per capita are Serbia and Montenegro. For example, there are 40 firearms for every 100 residents of Montenegro.

So how do you get a permit? Can an immigrant do this? Yes, you don't have to be a citizen of Montenegro. If you're interested in the legal ownership and use of firearms in Montenegro, you should consider joining a hunting organization or a shooting club.

By joining a hunting organization and successfully passing the exam, you can obtain a permit to use several types of hunting or sporting weapons.

? You can apply for a license for sporting weapons after 6 months of your first residence permit (RP). The club provides a certificate, then you undergo a medical examination, and finally, obtain a weapon permit. The license is issued for 10 years (not just for the duration of the residence permit).

A firearm acquisition permit is not issued in certain cases, such as if a person is underage, has a criminal record, or has mental disorders.
