We must attain to a conception of history that is in keeping with this insight. Then we shall clearly realize that it is our task to bring about a real state of emergency, and this will improve our position in the struggle against Fascism. The current amazement that the things we are experiencing are ‘still’ possible in the twentieth century is not philosophical. The general election is next Tuesday. I already voted last week. I am aware of the democratic party's record on Gaza, on civil liberties, on policing and the carceral system, and many others, and I do understand that voting alone is not going to stop the march of fascism and authoritarianism. Still, another Trump victory just feels too horrifying to me, and if my vote can make it even slightly less likely, I feel that it is worth the one hour I spent waiting in the line. No matter what will happen next Tuesday, no matter what decision you made or will make regarding voting, we are still all in this together and we will always have one another.
