Also, the Prophet ﷺ has praised the Ṣaḥābah, the Tābiʿīn, and the third generation, in these reports.

So if he has praised them, then they are the Jamāʿah whom one should not oppose.

And everyone who opposes them, is of Ahl al-Bāṭil (ie: the people of falsehood).

And were [these] three generations they who did not blindly follow anyone,

but instead sought the Qurʾān and Sunan,

then we are with them,

And all praise is due to Allah the Lord of all that Exists.

And anyone who blindly follows a specific person, has opposed al-Jamāʿah.

And all praise is due to Allah the Lord of all that Exists.

ʿAbd Allah reported in al-Sunnah 1/216:

Sufyān (b. ʿUyaynah) said: I was with Abū Ḥanīfah one day when a man came to him and asked him a question about currency exchange, and he made a mistake in it.

I said: “O Abū Ḥanīfah! This is a mistake.”

He got angry and said to the one who asked for the fatwá: “Go, act upon it, and any sin in it is upon my neck.”

It was related by Yaʿqūb b. Shaybah that it reached him that ʿImrān b. Ḥiṭṭān had a cousin who was upon the ideology of the Khawārij, وروى يعقوب بن شيبة أنه بلغه أن عمران بن حطان كانت له بنت عم كانت ترى رأى الخوارج and he married her with the intention to…

Praising oneself is more distasteful than praising someone else.

Because it is much more likely that a person would exaggerate his status than that of someone else.

The love of a thing makes you blind and deaf,

and nothing is more beloved to a person than his own self.

This is why he sees the ʿuyūb (ie: faults) of others but he cannot see his own.

And he finds an excuse for himself whilst he is critical of others (who do the very same thing he does).

Hence Allah the Exalted said: {So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him} [al-Najm: 32]

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ only ever approves of al-ḥaq (ie: the Truth) and what is good,

and he would not witness something hated, except that he would [clarify that it is hated],

nor any mistake, except that he would prohibit it.

Allah taʿālá said: {That you make clear to the people what has been sent down to them}, [al-Naḥl: 44]

And also we know bi ʿl-ḍarūrah (ie: by necessity with certainty) that during the ʿaṣr (ie: era of) al-Ṣaḥābah, there was not a single man who took another among them and made taqlīd (ie: blind-following) to him in all his sayings, accepting everything from him while rejecting all sayings from others.

We also know bi ʿl-ḍarūrah that this practice did not exist in the ʿaṣr of al-tābiʿīn nor in the time of the followers of al-tābiʿīn.

Let those muqallidūn (ie: who blindly follow) prove us wrong by showing us a single person who followed their perilous path during the virtuous centuries, as described by the tongue of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

This bidʿah (of taqlīd) originated in al-qarn al-rābiʿ (ie: fourth century) the condemnation of which era was done by the tongue of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Those who blindly follow their leaders in everything they say, permitting and prohibiting matters related to al-furūj wa ʿl-dimāʾ wa ʿl-amwāl (ie: marriage, life, and property) without knowing whether it is right or wrong, are in great danger.

They will face a severe standing before Allah, where it will be known who spoke about Allah without knowledge, and that they were not upon anything.

“He (the Prophet, ﷺ) used to kiss me (ie: ʿĀʿishah) when he was fasting and I was fasting.”

Reported by Abū Dāwūd, on the authority of ʿĀʿishah (may Allah be pleased with her) who raised it (to the Prophet ﷺ).

I say: The chain is Ṣaḥīḥ upon the condition of al-Bukhārī.

From Ismāʿīl b. Isḥāq that Abū ʿAbd Allah (ie: Imām Aḥmad) was asked: about a man who has a Rāfīḍī neighbor, should he greet him?

He said: “No, and if he greets him, do not respond.”

The Book and the Sunnah agree with one another,

and the Salaf are the greatest of this Ummah,

and their path is the greatest of paths.
