In the prepper/gun tuber sphere, it's really easy to get caught up in gun consumerism and the black pill of the boogaloo fantasy. Guys will scorn their jobs, put off buying a better car, repairing their property, building wealth, building normal friendships with normal people who aren't autistic online extremists, etc - giving more attention to buying NVG, camouflage, arguing with anon sperges online, and so forth.
Don't view the more real components of your lives with less validation than the hypothetical SHTF scenario you're preparing for. Our preparations should be methods by which we preserve our livelihood, not lifestyles that require the rest of our world to conform to them.
Advance your career. Invest money into your home. Buy nice things for your wife and kids. Host little parties for guests and don't feel afraid to spend money on making your home beautiful and inviting for guests with nice meals waiting for them on the buffet. Don't slash your personal lives because you're afraid it'll hurt your Night Vision budget. Go ahead and invest your time in learning that new skill that will make you more valuable at your real life job, even if it requires you to sacrifice some weekends that you would have been training on.
