The antisemitic law of Codex Theodosianus:
THEODOSIAN CODE: "Other prohibitive legislation, known as privilegia odiosa, degraded the political position of the Jews. They were barred from public functions such as the military, administrative positions (CT 16-8-24) and occasionally from the legal professions. Marriages with Jews were considered shameful adulterous unions and were prohibited with the death penalty for offenders. ( CT 16-8-6,3-7-2) A law of 397 denied the Jews the right of asylum granted by the Church ( CT 8-45-2). In the following year the Jewish courts which until then had been responsible for all Jewish affairs were considered invalid for all matters except matters of religion (CT 2-1-10). In 425 when the Council was abolished, the tax paid to it was not abolished but simply added to the taxes paid by the Jews to the empire. (CT 16-8-25). The many hostile and defamatory references to Jews and Judaism found in the Code go beyond legal character and echo the corresponding phraseology of church canons. Sometimes in the Code Judaism is referred to as a 'perverted heresy', 'superstition', the Synagogue as a 'blasphemous assembly' and the Jews as 'abominations.'"
