? Ask students from a team to close their eyes. Tell them that you are going to click on the first cube and after some time the students should say "Stop!"
? Repeat the same with the other cubes.
? Tell students to write down the sentence they have made.
? Some sentences may come out silly ?. Tell them that it's OK and giggle together ?.

Another reason for timing group work for the middle of the lesson is that it's quite difficult to predict exactly how much time it will take. Even after a lot of experience, I'm never quite sure how long a particular group task will take with a given class. Planning it for the middle of the lesson allows you the necessary flexibility. If it takes more time than you'd expected then you have left yourself the possibility of spending longer on it, even if it means abandoning something else you'd planned. If, on the other hand, the process comes to an end sooner than you'd expected, then you are able to stop it earlier, and add another reserve activity.

More specifically, the beginning of the lesson is best used in general for teacher-led work on new language or texts: it's when students are at their freshest and most receptive. But when you've spent time on focused work on new material, it's good to move into a different mode, to step aside and let the students work with each other rather than being directly led by you. The end of the lesson, on the other hand, should normally consist of a full-class rounding-off activity. Letting group work run right to the end of the lesson doesn't allow for this.
