The nafs cries over the dunya while it knows
that happiness in it is by leaving what is in it.
There is no home for a person after death
except the one he was building before death.
If he builds it open goodness then he will have a pleasant home,
and if he builds it upon evil then he will be corrupted.
Ibn al-Qayyīm [رحمه الله] said:
❝A real man is the one who fears the death of his heart, not his body.❞
Ja’far al-Ṣadiq’s advice to his son Mūsā al-Khādim:
O’ my son, the one who is satisfied with what he has is truly wealthy, while the one who desires that which another possesses is truly poor.
And know also that whoever exposes people’s sins, his own sins will be exposed.
● {سير أعلام النبلاء حجم ٦/٢٦٣}
Everything that around you is the decree of Allah.
Everything you are asking for
is in the treasures of Allah.
Everything you are afraid of is in the Hand of Allah.
Everything that left you,
left you by the order of Allah.
Everything that is coming to you is from Allah!
Everything that is worrying you,
Allah is aware of it.
And in all of those Allah is all merciful all compassionate.
Believe and Rely on Him.
“Allah created angels with reason and no desires,
animals with desires and no reason,
and man with both reason and desires.”
So if a man’s reason is stronger than his desire than he is like an angel,
and if his desires are stronger than his reason, then he is like an animal."
-Ibn Al-Qayyim
‘Uddat As Sabireen, 2/7.
Take Care Of Your Good Deeds!
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
“Do you know who is poor?
They (the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ) said: A poor man amongst us is one who has neither dirham with him nor wealth.
He (the Prophet ﷺ) said: The poor of my Ummah would be he who would come on the Day of Resurrection with prayers and fasts and Zakat but (he would find himself bankrupt on that day as he would have exhausted his funds of virtues) since he hurled abuses upon others, brought calumny against others and unlawfully consumed the wealth of others and shed the blood of others and beat others, and his virtues would be credited to the account of one (who suffered at his hand).
And if his good deeds fall short to clear the account, then his sins would be entered in (his account) and he would be thrown in the Hell-Fire.”
Sahih Muslim 2581
Ibn Al-Qayyim wrote:
Do you think the righteous do not commit sins?
They simply hid them and didn’t expose them...
And sought forgiveness for them and did not insist on them...
And admitted to them and did not justify them...
And did goodness after they did wrong..
One of the salaf was asked, “How is the relationship between you and your religion?”
He said, “it is shredded by sins, and I patch it with seeking forgiveness (isitighfār).
How excellent is the question
And how deep is the answer!
Imām al-Qurṭubi
“Whoever is present in a sinful sitting and does not forbid evil is counted alongwith the sinners in the same sin.”
